I can't decide if this is a good move or not. This may be genius. There's sure to be a ton of pressure on Brady Quinn to perform as a rookie. Maybe it IS better to flip a coin than to start right in with "Brady's our guy" from the coach. Nothing builds fan expectations or coach pressure than someone blindly standing by a rookie.
What do you guys think? Is this a smart move by Romeo Crennel or is it just him being non-commital?
Story:
http://www.cleveland.com/browns/plaindeale...mp;coll=2

I think it's funny first of all. Second of all, I think it's a very smart move on Romeo's part. Letting Quinn know that this isn't his team.
Makes no sense, if you are willing to ignore a guy and give him the Parcell's treatment after holding out, then give him the possibilty of starting the first preseason game you need to re-evaluate your stance.
I agree w/ the desperation angle.
Lerner & Savage IMO just gave him 20 million reasons on who the starter should be.

I think it's a smart move since neither of them has proven they can be the "sure" starter and as well as the pressure of knowing you are "the" guy and have to play well to make Romeo look good in the process. BTW, it also is sort of a desperate move which doesn't really matters since he's on the hot seat,
Romeo crennel is a great coach. This doesnt mean anything, its a preseason game, and both are very close and raw qbs. I can understand him flipping a coin. It's not like hes flipping a coin to see who will start in the superbowl, this is preseason and regardless of who starts both will see minutes so it really doesnt even matter.

QUOTE (PrimeTime)

Romeo crennel is a great coach.

I haven't seen Romeo coach before he took over as HC for the Browns so I might be missing something. Nothing he's done in his Browns Jobmade me think he was a great coach.
Browns should have taken back Shottenheimer this season.. they don't even have to play Denver.

about the coin flip thing.. I don't think it's significant.
