But get this:

In 104 minutes of play, JKidd has 33 assists and just THREE turnovers . . . to go along with four blocks, ten steals, and 20 rebounds.

To put that in perspective, prorating those numbers over 38 minutes (his usual PT during the season), he'd have 12.1 assists; 1.1 turnovers; 7.3 rebounds; 1.5 blocks; and 3.7 steals.

That assist-to-turnover ratio is a killer.

I don't know why the title of the thread is what it is, or if it's sarcastic or not, so I'll keep my comments to myself until it's clarified.

    Kidd's been awesome.

America would be great without him, but damn, with him? Even better.

A big reason for that awesome ratio is because LeBron, Melo and Amare are finishing.

Do you know what Deron's stats are so far?

Deron's stats are very good also. In 112 total minutes, he has the same number of assists as Kidd--33. However, he has 9 turnovers, 5 rebounds, 0 blocks, and just 3 steals.

Deron has shot the ball, though--he's 17-26 (.654), including 5 for 9 on 3-point attempts. Ironically, he is shooting 3s at a higher percentage than free throws--he's just 4 of 8.

The only way to get people to read your threads is to give them an outrageous title.

Kidd has been the best player on our roster, stats or not.

Kidd has facilitated USA's up-tempo offense through the tournament. Without Jason Kidd, this team would be lost, he's been terrific and has shown 0 signs of starting his descent to retirement this up-coming season.

Kidd is far from retirement. The thing that makes him special is his awareness, court vision, but he has done so much to improve that by studying opponents natural tendency, he will jumpp a passing lane before the passer releases the ball. He's lost most of his hops, but he had probably one of the best year's of his career. His head will keep him ahead of the game when most hang them up. He can influence the game so much without scoring a point and now we see playing less than a half of the game.

Only thing I hate about this is the three shots he's taken. I know in practise he does but sometimes we need him to hit some big shots.

There's a lot of talent on Team USA, but Kobe and Kidd are the two guys who are really setting the intensity level. People are going to overlook Kidd because he's playing less than 15 mpg, but I'm convinced that he's as critical to the team's attitude as Kobe is. And an 11:1 assist to turnover ratio is unbelievable.

kidd's goin crazy!!! his offense and D has been amazing, everything you'd hope for in a point guard.

kobe's defense has been amazing too! he's been all over the other team's best player. he's doin exactly what team usa needed, bringing some intense perimeter defense. it's crazy seein him out there constantly harrassing whoever he's guarding for stretches.

I think they noted the Kidd has more blocks than turnovers as of last night.

Amazing considering some of the plays the Kidd tries to setup...

OK, so now he's up to 40 assists, 5 blocks, 12 steals, 23 rebounds, and 5 turnovers in 122 minutes. So he is at ROUGHLY one assist for every three minutes on the court. Only two teammmates have more blocks than Kidd: Dwight Howard and Tyson Chandler. He's also third on the team in steals (but has played many fewer minutes than the two ahead of him).

Kidd is second in the tournament in assists per game at 5.0 . . the guy ahead of him (averaging 7.13) is an Argentinian who has averaged 30 minutes per game--more than twice Kidd. Kidd is also #1 in assist-to-turnover ratio at 8.00 . . . second best is a Canadian at 4.57 . . . He's also tied for tenth in total steals, but again, I am sure he has played fewer minutes than anyone ahead of him.
The best PG in the world, but not good enough to go to the All-Star game. What does that tell you?
