The Seattle SuperSonics are trying to finalize details of a complicated three-team trade that would send nine-time All-Star Gary Payton to the Milwaukee Bucks for guard Ray Allen, FOXSports.com has confirmed.
Seattle guards Kenny Anderson and Desmond Mason and New Orleans Hornets forward Elden Campbell are also believed to be part of the deal, league sources said. Payton is in his 13th NBA season, all of them with the Sonics. In Milwaukee, he would be re-united with Bucks coach George Karl, his coach in Seattle for seven seasons.

Payton, 34 and in the final year of his current contract, led the Sonics with 31 points in a 103-94 victory over the New York Knicks Wednesday night in Seattle. The Knicks were one of the teams being mentioned in speculation regarding a trade involving Payton. </div>

Now the rumor I hear is Cassel for Sprewel. If that went down, I would fear the Bucks in the playoffs.

    stupid trade for all teams
NO should've gotten a C not PG, they got Wesley/B-Diddy
Seattle needs PG, Ollie will start!
Bucks will have to start Cassell and GP!

    NO will get worse
    Seattle will get better
    Bucks will get worse

Now that they aquired Payton i see Cassell leaving via trade to somewhere.

the only team it was a stupid trade for was Seattle...

Milwaukee will definitely be dealing Cassell someplace else...if they don't...then this is not as good of a trade as I originally thought it was...but my best guess is they are...Mason is going to be a star in the league...Payton already was and still is...Allen was a star in the league...i think he's already passed his prime...and then you have kevin ollie and joel pryzibilla...im not even gonna go there...seattle got jacked...

so you deal your starting PG...and then what do you do...you deal your backup PG...the whole point of seattle trading was to get rid of big contracts...yes KA is a BIG contract but they shoulda made a team take on jerome james' contract too...then they could be major free agent market players...sigh stupid...

and NO...they question the health of B Davis and Wesley can't run a team the way KA can...plus Elden was playing second fiddle to Jamaal Magloire anyways...why would you say they needed to get a C ? they are stronger at the power positions then they are at the guard positions...especially with Baron being a question mark...Jamaal Magloire has one of the biggest upsides of any big man in the league right now and he has been playing solid...which is why elden couldnt get back in the lineup...it was a good move for NO also...

Since I don't think Payton would have resigned with them, they traded Mason for Allen, which is a good deal, although they're tied up in his contract for awhile. I think the Bucks will get better, especially if it turns out they traded Cassell too. I don't think the Spree rumor is true though, so they may end up with two very good PGs.

Nice trade and all but Gary should have stayed with the Sonics.

"Lewis and Evans expect Payton will still be their teammate when the Sonics face Milwaukee here Friday night."

haha i just saw that in an espn article written wednesday night after the sonics beat the knicks...that it was kinda ironic (and funny) in a twisted sorta way ;p

Big Trade that makes the bucks a whole new team. The sonics are gonna suck the rest of this year but will have plenty of money to sign a star in the offseason.

I hear Ronald Murray was in the trade, rather than Pryzbilla. That would explain the Cassell and Pryzbilla to NY for Spree rumors. I don't buy it, but rumors are great. Trade deadline day is one of the best days of the year!

Bucks came out on top of this trade. Payton & Mason for Allen.

Redd will easily take over Allen's spot. (or Spree)

The Bucks got a lot more athletic with Mason and their defense should pick up.

If the Cassell for Spree trade goes down, I really have to wonder what the Knicks are thinking. They could have had Payton for Spree + 1, but they are settling for Cassell. Layden needs to be canned.

SCBrian is right when he said Sonics could have got A LOT more for Payton and Mason.

Brent Barry and Allen in the Sonic backcourt = NO DEFENSE

I guess its because im a Ray Allen Fan. Why the bucks trade him. I wonder what the sonics Line up would be now. Bucks are crazy though. They already brokeup the big three from last season (Robinson, Cassell, Allen) I mean come on. they were one win away from the Finals the season before last. Then they got Mason and fell down hill. *smh* How the hell could they trade thier leading scorer for Payton. Dont get me wrong I do like him. but geeze why didnt they trade Cassell and A. Mason?? Shoot I knew things would go wrong when they got rid of Robinson. But damn now Ray is gone. If they make it pass the first round of the Playoffs ill be shocked.
