Saturday, April 26, 2003 Sonics' Forte arrested on gun and drug charges SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER STAFF AND NEWS SERVICES Sonics reserve guard Joseph Forte was arrested on gun and drug charges after he was stopped for speeding in Abingdon, Md., Thursday afternoon. Forte, 22, was arrested after a trooper smelled marijuana and searched his car, state police said. Containers holding 20.6 grams of marijuana were found, along with a .22-caliber pistol and an ammunition clip, police said. A July 10 trial date was scheduled. Forte spent the season as the 12th man on the Sonics bench. He has one year remaining on a three-year guaranteed contract worth $1.1 million. Messages to Forte and his agent were not returned to the P-I, and the Sonics organization had no comment. The Sonics acquired Forte from Boston last year as a player in the Vin Baker trade. I found this article on the Seattle Post-Intelligence website...oy....Forte in big sh#t...I wonder if they're going to suspend him. But it's in the summer? Oy.
Here's another article to read: Thursday, April 24, 2003 Go 2 Guy: And the faithful have spoken: Take that column and Glove it By JIM MOORE SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER COLUMNIST Payton's brother, the Rev. Gregory Payton, wrote a long e-mail, the gist of which follows: "How dare you call my brother such unkind names. You probably never played sports or have ever been competitive in anything (so you) hide behind this newspaper and belittle men and women because of the gift they are blessed with. "My brother was a warrior in Seattle for 12 1/2 years. He didn't dump Shawn Kemp. Neither did he give (Jim) McIlvaine that ridiculous contract. He didn't overpay and underestimate the talents of Vin Baker. "Gary came from a good Christian family and never had to hang out on the streets of Oakland. We have good parents who taught us well. We are not hoods or thugs but good Christian siblings who are professionals in our own right. "You call my brother a jerk, but the accusers outside the club called him a (racial slur). "Gary Payton is one of the most blessed people on the face of the Earth because he has a family that loves him and respects him. People like you don't understand the real value of his being on this Earth." Then this from Claude Houston, who called the Go 2 Guy spineless: "You kissed Gary's (butt) while he was here, so where did the love go? Stop flopping like (Vlade) Divac and let it go. It's still OK to appreciate Gary and what he meant to Seattle even if he's in a Bucks uniform now." Yeap...Gary Payton deserves respect. And I gotta say someone like Joseph Forte doesn't (well, the Gary Payton assault thing was funny cause I thought he slapped a girls ass and got jailed for that, but I guess that wasn't the case. The only thing that would've gotten me mad was if I was his wife I would be like, "Gary? Why'd you have to go to a stripper club? Couldn't you just have a nice time with the guys catching a movie *f-l-i-c-k...god how could that be a bad word?* or something?" Plus he has kids, so that's not so uh respective of. I guess a guy will always be a guy.
nice articles...Joseph Forte is bored out of is mind on Seattle's bench and he's not a dumb tar heel cuz he's the first that i've seen out of the recent Tar Heels of the last 3-4 years...
today i was surfing on nba.com and found this player i looked up him and saw omg he had a good draft positon and found some articles which said he is very talented, and now i hear this omg I think the youth nowadays dont keep their opportunities for sure i mean seriously enough
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting "HighHeat":</div><div class="quote_post">today i was surfing on nba.com and found this player i looked up him and saw omg he had a good draft positon and found some articles which said he is very talented, and now i hear this omg I think the youth nowadays dont keep their opportunities for sure i mean seriously enough</div> Didn't the celtics select him? if so...it explains why he was so high....
that?s correct, but i can?t understand why this guy is so foolish okay let?s take clear words: dumberererererererer
what a bad draft for the Celtics in 2001 well they got my boy Joe Johnson and traded him and a first round pick for basically Tony Delk. Then draft Kedrick Brown and so far he has been a bust. Then they get another wing player Joe Forte and trade him along with their starting point Kenny Anderson for Vin Baker and yall know the rest..
sometimes i wonder myself, but heya you know sumthin this just results out of decisions made by finance manager which never played ball they see money and not the talent, age, future etc.
