<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Pistons want a healthy and productive Zeljko Rebraca on the roster next season. For that to happen, the 7-foot Yugoslavian center would likely need a surgical procedure to eliminate an irregular heartbeat that sidelined him for 49 games last season.

Rebraca is expected to inform the Pistons this week whether he'll have the surgery. If he doesn't, the Pistons may want to sit down with Rebraca and his agent, Billy Duffy, to discuss his future and the final year of his contract, which will pay him about $4.2 million.

The Pistons' brass has been assured the three-hour procedure is not life-threatening.

Fearing another on-court occurrence or an uncertain role with the team if the problem arises again next year, a source within the organization said they'd like to have Rebraca's status resolved during the free-agent period. Rebraca, 31, played in just 30 games last year and averaged 6.6 points and 3.3 rebounds.
