Was the Kings best shot at a title in 2002?

They had the Lakers on the ropes but once again, they choked. At home. Game 7. Especially Peja. Air-ball. Webber couldn't really step up. Bibby was on fire, but has since cooled down. Vlade is older and his flops won't work anymore. Pollard may get arrested for unsightly hair-style...BJax and C-webb are getting hurt more often. Hedo is rumored to be goin.. Bibby's huge contract will hurt them soon. Adelman's whines won't change the reffing. Keon may leave...
Kobe was poisoned. Shaq was banged up. The Lakers simply underestimated the Kings. Shaq gets motivated.(thanks for writing the expletives on his ball)

This is not an attack. I am just wondering- do you think the Kings (or Queens as Shaq Daddy says) have any gas left to win a title?!

You are forgetting that Malone is 40 and Payton is 38, both of them are considered to be way past the prime of their careers and the best thing that Malone could do for them is come off the bench, he can't play 40+ minutes anymore and Payton put up nothing but bricks in the playoffs last year, in closing the Kings have a better shot than they ever had coming into this season, especially since Kobe will be charged with rape because all evidence points that way according to various news sources. Which is not too good for him, What has happened to the credibility of the NBA this off season Everybody is getting arrested.

Both malone and Payton are still allstar type players..their age is not a problem because of the way they keep in shape..they still play at a high level.kobe will be charged but he won't go to jail...

EEEEEEEEERRRRRRRR! Wrong. You are correct that Malone is 40 but GP is only like 35
    GP was born: 07/23/68

Yes 2002 was the best chance, now they've hardly got a chance at all. Because Doug Christie and Vlade Divac arent getting any younger, Dallas and San Antonio are better than what they were in 02. The Lakers are going to be a lot harder to beat aswell. If Webber didn't get injured last season they may of been champs because they wouldn't of had to play LA. Bibby isn't as good as what he was and his contract is to big for him. If it was a Kings/Lakers Western Conference Finals Peja would have to shoot the lights out every game. Even then if Fox/George couldn't stop Peja's 3's LA would put Kobe on him because Doug Christie wont hurt you that much on offense. The Kings have blown their chance now with LA that strong and the rest of the West stronger aswell.

All your tunes will change because KG has expressed real interest in coming to Sacramento, even if he doesn't we still have better shot than most teams [IMG]

^^crying over spilled milk still [IMG]

i have never heard any rumor of kg coming to the kings. that would be great for the kings, but i think kg is going to stay in minnesota because they have shown him they are serious about winning.

however, the kings definately have a chance to make it. if webber was not injured in the playoffs i think they would have won the championship last year. this team is too, talented and very deep to not be considered a contender. i'd like to see gerald wallace make his statement with them this season, and they should re-sign jim jackson, he was great for them. keon clark will play more minutes and vlade will be rested during the regular season, similar to how the lakers kept horry fresh for the playoffs. bibby should be better since he has had time to heal from his injury. peja is solid, christie is still one of the best defenders in the league, and despite his age he is still able to compete with the best players in the league. the kings, mavs, spurs, & lakers all have a chance to win the title this upcoming season. however, let's not forget the lakers have the best chance!

KG will not go to the kings..they can't afford him and i'm sure he won't want to go to an aging team like sacramento...

Why would KG want to play for a bunch of chokers? The wolves are in a better postition than the kings right now....and they can offer him more than kings ever will...

I can't believe you just said that, the Kings owners have all the money in the world and could sign any player in the league. They have no problem payinfg the luxury tax. [IMG]

that really is true, look at the fouls called, game stats, etc. even talk shows & newspapers said that they were favored.
