<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Washington Wizards moved closer to making Gilbert Arenas their point guard of the future yesterday, offering him a multi-year contract with a salary believed to be between $6 million and $7 million in the first year.

The offer all but eliminates any chance that Arenas' present team, the Golden State Warriors, will be able to match. The Warriors are over the league's salary cap and can offer the free agent no more than $4.9 million.

Arenas is more likely to sign with the Wizards because other teams that had salary cap space available, the Los Angeles Clippers and Utah, appear to have gone in different directions.

I think Gilbert will either go to Washington or the Clippers

i know i wouldn't go to the clippers. 6 million seems like he's getting ripped(should get paid more). how many years would it be?

Nah 6 million is not a rip..as really he has only had 1 great season..no doubt i think he will be a very good but he needs to continue to improve it..by being like he did this season..year in and year out..

Id like him to stay in GS because they are getting better season by season. The wizards would get a great pick up if they landed him though

Since the cap space went up the Wiz are more than likely going to offer a contract that starts out giving him 8 mil a year, not 6.
