According to me, it would be wise to advocate for this choice:

C - Chris Mihm (qualifying offer)
PF - Stromile Swift (qualifying offer)
    SF - Rodney White (Free-Agent)
SG - Deshawn Stevenson (qualifying offer)
PG - Ben Gordon (4th NBA Pick)

    6th - Ron Mercer (Free-Agent)

With that roster, the Bobcats will be eaten alive

If the Bobcats were to sign Stromile Swift, then I think it'd be wiser to play him at Center and sign another Power Forward. I also think that Gordon would be a horrible pick and Deng would give them instant offensive help.

I am willing to bet that Fizer winds up in Charlotte.

Nbadraft.net has them picking Loul Deng...Granted it is still early and it will all change..but with Deng or Gordan you cant go wrong, Deng is thsi years Carmelo, and Gordan has a nice stroke

With them being the newest franchise does that mean that they will have first pick in the draft?

This would be a nice roster

PG-Brent Barry(With Flip,Allen,R.Lewis Seattle already has enough scorers)
    SG-DeShawn Stevenson(qualifying offer)
    SF-Luol Deng(4th pick in draft)
PF-Kenyon Martin(Maybe the only team in the NBA that can max out his contract)
    C-Slavko Vranes(FA)

This team wouldn't win the NBA Finals but it would be interesting to watch

It means they have the 4th pick in the draft.

    How about this:

PG-Brent Barry (I've seen alot of people mention him)
    SG-Latrell Sprewell (Leaves Minnesota)
SF-Luol Deng (4th pick in draft)
PF-Stan Medvedenko (the guy has potential and can score) (FA)
    C-Marcus Fizer

    6th man: Bob Sura

BTW- Call me crazy, but what if Kobe wanted to start from scratch and have his own team. Does anybody see him leaving L.A. and going to Charlotte? He was originally drafted by the Hornets, so he must be a little familiar with the city..

PG- I still believe that if Luol Deng may be this year's Anthony, Ben Gordon is the new version of Wade.

SG- As for the SG spot, Deshawn Stevenson has an interesting upside and will ever be a fan favorite thanks to his superior athleticism.

SF- Next year should be the year of 2 very complete players: Qyntel Woods & Rodney White. As Woods is unreachable, it would be very clever to sign White, a star in the making. Everytime he is allowed to perform for more than 15 minutes, he has been great. Watch Out.

PF - I'm sure Stromile Swift could be one of the best Power Forwardin the game. He is a physical monster, a real phenomenon. Yet, as it has been the case for Shawn Kemp - Swift predecessor -, he needs time to develop his "raw" game; yet he is still a great rebound/block machine.

C - Chris Mihm can be dangerous because plus being a good shotblocker and an above average rebounder, his long range shooting ability may be very interesting to let S.Swift rule in the low post.

6th - Ron Mercer, one of the smoothest player in the game when he was in Kentucky, will still be a good addition, unless we prefer old-school and ugly basketball a.k.a San Antonio's.

I think all your choices are good except this one. I think Ray Felton(if he goes in the draft at all) would be much better than Gordon. He's pass first, but can create his shot almost as well as Gordon. Besides, Wade(who you compared Gordon to) plays most of his time at off guard, with Rafer Alston taking over the point. If Gordon does this, he'd be extremely small for a 2 guard.

Kobe WILL NOT GO TO CHARLOTTE. Yes, we drafted him in '96. No, he doesn't know the city a little bit, seeing as he never came here. He held out from signing with the Hornets and doesn't have many followers here because of it. That's a big reason why we traded him for Vlade.

I think Fizer could end up in Charlotte too, and could be a good piece at the 4.

I think a good starting lineup would be:
    pg - Ray Felton(w/ 4th pick)
    sg - Brent Barry
    sf - Darius Miles
    pf - Marcus Fizer
c - Chris Mihm or Raef LaFrentz, whichever Boston leaves unprotected

That team, provided Bickerstaff uses it well, and provided it has a decent bench, could win between 20 and 30 games. Not a bad start.

Felton at 4 is a bit of a reach, aint it? If they really wanted him, it would be wise to trade down, and get a vet with him.

I've seen a lot of mention of Brent barry in this thread. While it is true that Seattle's policies on re-signing players may leave him an unrestricted free-agent after the season, if they think there is a good chance that he'll leave they will trade him, guaranteed. He is one of the hottest properties on the trade market right now, with an expiring contract and likely to sign for much less next year.

If I had to pick a Seattle guard who will end up on Charlotte's roster, which is an almost certainty, my money's on Antonio Daniels.

    What about this one?

C - Etan Thomas (qualifying offer)
PF - Stromile Swift (qualifying offer)
    SF - Luol Deng (rookie)
    SG - Rodney White (free-agent)
    PG - Carlos Arroyo (free-agent)

    + My outkast bench:
    6th - /SG/ Ron Mercer (free-agent)
    7th - /PF/ DeAngello Collins (free-agent)
    8th - /SG/ Lenny Cooke (free-agent)
    9th - /C/ James Lang
    10th- /PG/ Chris Duhon (rookie 2nd round)

Bickerstaff should be subsitute as the Bobcats coach by Mike Fratello.
This team would be surely talented enough, and despite being very young, it could be interesting to see it grow. A new franchise has time to emerge, so why not betting on very young players...

Collins and Cooke?? Why not just throw in Shea Cotton too? I mean, that's too many dead weights on a bench. Those guys aren't NBA caliber, i think you are buying into the hype a bit too much.

Even though they are an expansion team, they will need a couple of vets. Charlotte seemed to lose interest in their team rather quickly the last time.

btw, I'm surprised no one has thrown out Jamal Tinsley's name. Bird doesn't seem to be too high on him.

Yes, but since K.Anderson injury, Tinsley is doing well as a starter, and the coaching staff may end loving this team guy.

My Outkast bench was just some kind of a funny proposal.

But I really think that my original proposition could reach the play-offs, especially in the Eastern Conf.

C - Chris Mihm (qualifying offer)
PF - Stromile Swift (qualifying offer)
    SF - Rodney White (Free-Agent)
SG - Deshawn Stevenson (qualifying offer)
PG - Ben Gordon (4th NBA Pick)

    6th - Ron Mercer (Free-Agent)

They could always TRADE the 4th pick... Phoenix, Utah, and Portland may all end up with 2 picks in the 2004 draft, but unless the picks were like 7th and 13th I wouldn't even begin to think about trading a 4th pick, but if I got something like a 7th pick, 13th pick and a throw-in veteran... I'd probably trade, especially in this draft which seems weak up top.

I can't wait for the expansion draft... I hope it has a few major players, if it is like the Toronto/Vancouver draft (snooze) then forget about it. But today's NBA is willing to let good players go because of the cap relief. So it should be interesting to watch which teams protect which players, and then which players the Bobcats actually pick.

I'm sure the Bobcats are going to pick high-flyers who are exciting... athletic guys who can score. They know they aren't gonna win a Championship any time soon, so they'll need to sell seats!!
