I metioned Curry in another post, and that got me thinking...I''m sure most of you guys remember this supposed phenom...if some of you guys don't, I'll refresh your memory.

He was suppose to a better quarterback than Mike Vick, and one of the nations best point guards... In highschool, he was rated by many magazines as the best HS football player in the nation AND the best HS basketball player in the nation. That's unbeliveable...

Anyways, he went to UNC undecided on what he wanted to persue so he tried to play both early on. That drew a lot of criticism (because QB's need to be focused %100 on what they do) He broke his leg playing football his freshman year, and missed the entire bball season. He and Julius Peppers played some bball his sophmore year, but Curry just couldn't stay healthy (in football and basketball)...He finally decided to persue football full-time but never got it together...by the, it was too laten...Today, he's an on-and-off kick returner for the Raiders...

MY QUESTION IS do you think he should have focused full-time in BBALL or football...he seemed to have a lot of potiential in both, but just couldn't realize it....

I think he shoulda dropped basketball and pursued football for sure. He did some amazing things on the football field....but carolina really had no team to support him,the last decent team they had Oscar Davenport QBed...but I mos def think football was his avenue...he really looked kinda lost after Mack Brown left(at least I think it was Mack Brown)....

That's why his situation was so interesting...everyone has their different view on what he "shouold of" done. I thought basketball was the way to go for him. He was a talented football player with great footwork and speed for a quarterback, but his throws were awful...he had good arm strength, but he threw with no touch or accuracy....

From what I saw on the basketball court (which was only a couple of games), I liked his game. He was built like a truck (due to playing football) and was very athletic for a point. He was also a superb defender. He just lacked a little bit of quickness and had that broken jumpshot...truely a wasted "athletic" talent....I was hoping he would find the success Charlie Ward did...

well I seen him play football(and basketball alot)the thing that really hindered him on the gridiron(other than injuries)was the fact that his team absolutely sucked. No receivers of note,a cruddy running game and his O-Line wasn't all that good either. He made alot of mistakes passing the ball,in my opinion, because he tried to take on too much at once. But he did make some spectacular plays on the football field.

I see where you think he shoulda pursued hoops because when he was healthy he was a load,I seen him drive a couple times against Duke and just take it hard to the hole(on Elton Brand no less)three consecutive times then come back and drain a couple threes...but regardless it was hard for him to stay healthy in either sport. I most definetly agree with you...UNC football is genearlly more focused on defense. Curry would've been better off going to Virginia (the school he originally committed to) where they have a solid program in each sport...

He committed to the Cavaliers? Man,I didn't know that I thought he had committed to Kentucky but them having Tim Couch made him reverse his decison..what I was told anyway...

Nah, Curry's decision totally impacted college football and quite possibly the NFL....

Curry and Mike Vick were the two best highschool players in Virginia. Curry was considered the better prospect but Virginia recruited both of them with Curry as the guy they really wanted...When he made an oral commitment, Virginia stopped recuiting Vick, so Vick decided to go to Virgina Tech instead. Then Curry turned his back on Virginia and went to UNC instead...that left Virginia with neither QB's ...no curry, and in retrospect, NO MIKE VICK...who knows what would've happened if curry had picked UNC from the start...

Well I had heard about Vick and Virginia but I had never known Curry was in there too. Interesting tho'...Curry woulda been alot better off at Virginia IMO....

Man, I thought Peppers was an awesome basketball player....Guy dunked with authority....didn't he lead the ACC in fg%. He was definetly better than Curry at both basketball and football...(or more productive at the least). I think he could've played in the NBA, but his lack of height probably would've prevented him from being too successful in the NBA. He did get like $30-40 million to play football so he's doin arite [IMG]

btw, I saw Tony Gonzalez and Donavan McNabb play college ball...well with McNabb, I saw him shoot a couple of freethrows... Gonzalez was decent, but definetly not NBA material...

I'm glad I'm not the only fan of Peppers' game. He was a load down under the basket,he had some hops too. I kinda envisioned him in the Barkley mode since Chuck was only 6'5 or 6'6 too....
