The Yankees and Red Sox rivalry is by far the best. You're talking about two teams that have history, dating back to who knows when, probably long before UNC and Duke. I'm a Yankees fan, since about i was 2 yrs. old and just can't stand Boston. If you had a gun held to your head and had to say what the best rivalry was, there's no doubt you would say Yanks and Red Sox. If there was a riot, there's no doubt the Yanks and Red Sox would have more deaths and injuries than any other teams in the history of sports.

I suppose it may be the best American rivalry, but there are some awesome soccer rivalries in Europe and South America that you've got to take note of.
I don't think anything can beat the European soccer rivalries. They have to have like 10 rows filled with cops to seperate the fans or else they will beat the ish out of each other.
