Today while sitting in my room I thought of the perfect idea...Frank Williams for Kareem Rush

This would give the Lakers a point-guard in the making and the Knicks a shooting-guard that isnt 2 million years old

This also works for the Lakers because Gary Payton is probably going to leave

    THIS IS JUST AN IDEA

But talking for the Lakers, I would rather just keep Kareem Rush. A young kid with some talent and can back up Kobe, especially with all of his court hearings, Rush may be more needed now.

Lakers are likely to lose Rush next season in The Bobcat's expansion draft. Think about it...

    The Lakers 8 Protected Players:

    1. Shaquille O'Neal
    2. Kobe Bryant
    3. Karl Malone
    4. Gary Payton
    5. Rick Fox
    6. Devean George
    7. Derek Fisher
    8. Stanislav Medvedenko

That leaves young prospects like Brian Cook, Kareem Rush, and Luke Walton free to be snatched up by The Bobcats in their expansion draft. In my opinion Kareem Rush has to be the favorite, he's a great shooter and shows unlimited potential, passing him up would be simply absurd!

Your list is all wrong man...

Kobe is going to be a free agent
Slava is going to be a free agent
    GP will probably opt out..

SO that is at least 3 extra spots for the lakers...they don't have to protect free agents....

There is no way the Lakers let go of Rush and Cook through the expansion draft IMO...they'd put rick fox and deavan george out there first...those guys have larger contracts and are therefore unlikely to get picked...

Also why would the Lakers allow Walton to go when he has been playing better and more minutes than George and Fox. The Lakers are an older team they shouldn't alow their younger players to leave

the bobcats will get rush if anyone at all. Rush has played terrific in Kobe's absence. Frank Williams should be traded though, he needs to develop.

If I were the lakers I wouldn't trade Kareem Rush, he can score and shoot clutches too.

I think this would be a bad move for LA....Rush shows a lotta promise as a young scorer/shooter and someone who can be counted on offensively...Williams would have a hard time fitting in with a veteran team, and I think Payton wont leave...it was just early frustration on his part...once Kobe and Karl get healthy, everything will be gravy...

Trade deadline is long over anyway, and I don't think the Lakers would even consider that trade. Frank Williams has played only a few full games and really hasn't proven much, why trade a guy like Rush for him? We know what Rush can do and he's a couple of years into the triangle, which is supposedly very hard to learn.

I also don't see the Lakers not protecting Rush. We won't be protecting George, because he is in the middle of a 22 million dollar contract, and he is overpaid. I'm not too sure they're going to use a spot to protect Fox either, because although his contract isn't big its still not friendly enough for a team to just pick him up in an expantion draft.. and this season he's had so far really doesn't attract a team to pick him up anyway.
    I think they will protect:
    1. Shaq
    2. Karl Malone
    3. Gary Payton ( I still don't think he will opt out because I believe they can still win this year )
    4. Derek Fisher
    5. Kareem Rush
    6. Brian Cook
    7. Luke Walton
    8. Rick Fox ( just because there's really no one else they're probably going to want to protect )

As a lakers fan Their is no way I would trade Kareem Rush for Frank Williams and I think that Luke Walton is he got a little faster could play Point Guard. He can see the floor very well and he played pretty great this season.

The rumor mill has it, if the Lakers greatly alter their roster, and or if Jackson goes away to Montana, Fox is considering retirement to go into acting.

Rick Fox is going to reitre anyways. But, we do need a backup PG for GP. Derek isn't really a PG. He can't dribble nearly as good as Kobe (a SG), and can play some hard-nosed D and shoot the three. We need a TRUE PG like GP.

Just a quick note: It's not at thier discretion. The CBA dictates that FA's can't be protected in expansion drafts, because FA's aren't eligible properties for that type of draft.
