Good. Now they can have a roster spot for both Cook and Russell. Grant was my original choice for the odd man out in the playoffs. This has to be the end of his career, he can longer compete on the court.

Tough news, but Horace needs some time off to rest. Get Cook ready for playoffs..

    Got a link now...

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Los Angeles Lakers officials said Horace Grant could be out six weeks or more because of torn cartilage in his right hip, according to a Los Angeles Times report on Tuesday.

Grant is scheduled to be examined by a specialist Wednesday, reports the newspaper.

Grant said Monday, however, that he expects to play again this season, though his return might not happen until after the early rounds of the playoffs. "Knowing me," Grant told the Times, "I'm expecting to play again."

Having struggled through injuries to Karl Malone, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal, the Lakers were rocked by Grant's news, as his veteran experience and his ability to back up the center and power forward positions were important elements to the team's postseason expectations.

Asked whether he believed Grant could return by the end of the regular season or the start of the playoffs, Jackson said, "We can't assume. We're hopeful."

"We're not going to jump to conclusions," Coach Phil Jackson told the Times, referring to the possible length of Grant's recovery. </div>

Yes. We now have more room for Brian Cook, Brian Russell, and this also gives slava more playing time(he should of been getting more than Horce Grant from the start of the season)
