What player who was a secound round pick is the best. Some people that I know of that are secound round picks that are good are Nick Van Exel Rashard Lewis Gilbert Arenas
Dennis Rodman was drafted in the second round. Byron Russell was a great second round pick during his prime in Utah.
Of all second round active players in the League right now, Gilbert Arenas probably is playing the best ball. He can really create mismatch for opponents because he is both quick and strong. He can really dominate the game at any time, he really does have a range. And he can really pass the ball without shooting it. Second that comes to mind is Carlos Boozer, according to this link: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/stor...marc&id=1775900 Carlos (15.7 ppg, 11.6 rpg) is bidding to be one of 4 all time second round players who has averaged at least 15 points and 10 rebounds in a single season. That is a real accomplishment. I also think his game is exciting and there are too much non-Duke-like elements in it... he can be one of the best power forwards in the League in many years from now and he can also be an All Star in as soon as next year. Nick Van exel is another great second rounder. His gutless play led the Mavericks last year in the playoffs but too bad he got traded to the Warriors. Nick is a contender so this team doesn't suit him at all. I think a trade is envitable at the end of the season. Dennis Rodman too: two time defensive player of the year, seven times rebounding champions, a true winner until his late chicken-plate career in LA and Dallas ruined his image and now teams are reluctant to take his services. But Dennis is a true winner, probably the most active defender there ever is, he does whatever it takes to win, even if it means rebounding the ball at that Long Beach team.

This should be a MODERN-TIME best 2nd rounders, because when there were less teams, there were less 1st round picks meaning a lot of great players were picked in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. Willis Reed, Paul Silas, Alex English, Dick Van Arsdale, Dennis Johnson, etc. were all 2nd rounders, but not like we think about 2nd rounders today So since the Draft was cut to only 2 rounds ('89) I'd say there's quite a few... Cliff Robinson, Cedric Ceballos, Stephen Jackson, Gordan Giricek, Emmanuel Ginobili, Mehmet Okur, etc, etc, etc. Plus the ones already mentioned, I'd say Emmanuel Ginobili would be my pick for the last few years, but since '89 I'd choose either Uncle Cliffy (Robinson) or Ceballos (yeah some Suns bias of course is playing a part, but what can ya do?). Of course a lot of 2nd rounders now are foreign players not many people know about, or aren't ready, but teams draft 'em and wait 'til they become a Manu, Giricek, or Okur.... so if you discount the 2nd round foreign guys, then I'd pick either Redd or Boozer for best 2nd rounder of the last few years (I'm sure it's everybody's).
Definitely Boozer, Redd and Ginobili. They were already good talents in their respective nation, leagues, etc. and now doing just as well, succeeding in the NBA. Even though they were passed up as draft picks they are now superstars and will continue to flourish becoming better players. They are basically the bang for your buck players.
Boozer and Redd, Great Franchise type players who show class and heart every night. damn, i wouldnt mind havin them on my team.
Gilbert Arenas will soon be a triple double machine. Michael Redd will be one of the guys who'll bring back the excitement in the J with his quick release left handed J and Boozer will soon be a KMart type of player once he develops that defense.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting PrimeTime:</div><div class="quote_post">Rashard Lewis is by far one of the top 5. ~Out, Prime</div> Yeah, can't forget him. Only if he plays more consistently.
Gilbert Arenas Micheal Redd Carlos Boozer Rashard Lewis Mobley Ginobili Flip Murray Nick van Exel Rafer Alston Mehmet Okur Dan Gadzuric Gordan Giricek Brian Cardinal Keith Bogans Marko Jaric??? Darius Songaila Rasual Butler Marcej Lampe (yess he will be)
Did anyone else find it strange how the 2002 NBA Draft had so many quality second round selections? Dan Gadzuric (Milwaukee) Carlos Boozer (Cleveland) Ronald "Flip" Murray (Seattle) Darius Songaila (Sacramento) Manu Ginobili (San Antonio) Mehmet Okur (Detroit) Gordan Girieck (Utah) Rasual Butler (Miami) A few of those guys could prove to be stars in this league, while the rest will defintely be quality role players who will hang around for years to come. I just found it kind of interesting...
How about Mark Price? he was good if not great in his prime. Shandon Anderson was a great second round pick, so was Howard Eisley, Mo Williams looks like he could be good point guard in the future.
Marcej Lampe baby I'm saying it now (even though I already did, but I'm saying it again). New York didn't give him a chance, but I hope he'll be geting about 24-28 minutes next year as the starting center for the Suns.
