Practising dunks is something they would do before and after training. It wouldn't be "training" as such. More like having fun outdoing each other with dunks.

Working on his shot mechanics this summer is critical. Better spending 2-3 months in the offseason ironing out the problems, rather than on the run during the season.

remember the kid IS 19, sure he is amazingly mature and all that, but let's let him have some fun with this game! he knows he's got to work on stuff like shooting, defense, etc. but if he also wants to wow the crowds with some show-stopping moves and dunks, I have no problem with that

I knew you were not serious, but others do knock him for that.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Cavaliers have talked about several areas they'd like their Rookie of the Year to improve upon this summer:

    (1) Outside shooting: They want James to cut down his tendency to fall away when he takes his jump shot. They also want to minimize any motion before he shoots. Catch the ball, jump straight up and shoot off the finger tips. Leave less room for bad habits to develop. The goal is for James to improve his 29 percent shooting from 3-point range.

    (2) Post-up moves: At nearly 6-foot-8 and 242 pounds, James is very strong and often defended by smaller players. Yet he rarely took the ball inside. They believe this can become a huge advantage for him if he learns to catch the ball close to the rim with his back to the basket, then score. Kobe Bryant does it well today, and Michael Jordan often used these same moves in the final years of his career.

    (3) Improve on defense: That is hard to do in the summer, because it usually means playing in competitive practices and games. But the Cavaliers just want James to think more about defense. Coach Paul Silas sent that message in benching James for part of the final game of the season because he failed to hustle back. Jordan took pride in his defense and once was even the NBA's Defensive Player of the Year.

    (4) Develop role models: No one says this publicly, but Jordan is the ideal player for James to emulate. Jordan did not come into the league with a reliable jump shot. He joined a team that had been losing for years. He needed to improve his ball-handling. He set out not to just win scoring titles but NBA titles. He generally handled himself well in public. James already has many of these attributes, and the Cavaliers just want to keep him headed in the right direction.</div>
