Post all your comments about the Raptors draft choices here. As every Raptor fan knows, we've got the 8th pick in the draft, feel free to intelligently discuss who you think we should or might draft. The Raptors have released a June 1-4th draft workout schedule, in that time span players like Ben Gordon, Luke Jackson, Luis Flores, Jameer Nelson, and Rafael Araujo will be worked out. Click here for More information regarding the workout schedule. Also in your posts you can include draft sites (credible), profiles, and scouting reports of players. I will keep you posted about future workout schedules. <font size="1">Note: This will now be the official draft thread of the Toronto Raptors, please don't make any other threads regarding the draft. As far as the official offseason thread, that now will be used to discuss everything excluding the draft.</font>
Well at our pick we <u>shouldn't </u> be taking Jameer Nelson, as it looks right now we're going on track to getting Devin Harris.
Nice to see you back VinsanityMK, I think Jameer is out of the question, as OG15 said, I think we are on track to get Devin Harris, Ill be happy with that as I expect him to bring immediate help to the lineup creating for himself and others.
I'm going to have to take a limb and follow Streetball2k3 on this one as he is the "prince of prediction" . I really do hope that any team like charlotte would go for any point gaurd other than Ben Gordon.
i don't know why people are thinking of ben gordan as a point guard, he's a combo guard that plays the shooting guard much better. if u watched the ncaa championship game u saw gordan turnover the ball incessantly when he played the point. i like gordan but not at the point. at least alvin isn't turnover prone, turnovers bug me big time.
I've got my hopes up for Benny Gordon, but if he goes higher (which I think he will), I'd gladly take either Andris Biedrins, or Devin Harris. A lot of people are saying "we need to draft a guard, we need to draft a big"... I think we need to fill almost all our positions, so we should just go ahead and draft the best player available.
We need to fill the starting C and PG, and our bench basically at every position but PF (If we get a C Marshall 6th amn PF) needs to be filled so yes we need everything lol.
what about bassy? does everyone think he's going before the 8 pick? if not, wouldnt he be a good pick?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting VinsanityMK:</div><div class="quote_post">hmmm... whats this Devin Harris dude like?</div> In my opinion, Devin Harris is better than Gordon, especially for what suits us. He can shoot the three (as well as mid range), quick, great ball handler and has good size at 6'3, along with some hops. He can get in the lane any time he wants and is a good passer. Great scorer, over 20 ppg at Wisconsin this past season along with leading his team to a 24-6 record. Harris is bar far my favorite player coming out of this years draft (hes very fun to watch) along with Luke Jackson, however we won't draft Jackson at our pick anyway (just giving you my personal favs). Devin is a versatile point guard, hes good in all areas. I really hope he will be available for our pick.
My choices, in order of preference: 1) Ben Gordon 2) Devin Harris 3) Andris Biedrins 4) Josh Smith 5) Shaun Livingston (if he slips) 6) Trade down with Utah, for two of their three picks and scoop Jameer Nelson and Rafael Araujo Anyone of those options I would be satisfied with. I can't to see what we do!!
most likely gonna be devin harris, unless gordon drops, but whoever it is,hopefully they can make the team better,or atleast make an effect on the team.
A PG is a top priority, and then a center. I think the Raptors need to fufil both of these needs through this draft, and I can foresee them trading the 8th pick for 2 mid-first round picks, since there is not really much talent after the first round.
I would keep the pick and just draft a point guard, then trade or sign for a big man in the off season. Theres no sense to draft a big man in the middle of the first round because he likely won't make a big impact anyway. I say we make an effort to find a big man already in the NBA.
^exactly. People talk about how bad we need to draft a center at the draft while we have an eigth pick. No center at our pick would make an impact (atleast not an immediate one) but there are plenty of point gaurds that possibly can. here is a link to the workout of ben gordon. http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Basketball/NBA/T.../03/484607.html any thoughts?
I say draft best player available..... doesn't matter what position but draft best player available....
