Yes! Finally, some word from the organization. This is a great move by the Raptors brass. We brought in a soild GM with two HOFers, I can only see us going up from here.

Who do you guys think RB will hire as coach? I say Dwayne Casey or Musselman. Ah well who cares, we have a management team full of basketball minds now!

Hopefully we can bring on Dr. J to take some role in this organization. That would be a dream.

The team is expected to formally announce the moves on Monday.</div>

Toronto to hire Timberwolves' Babcock as new GM

    Finally!!!
I like this, it seems like we got some basketball minds in here, Babcock, Wayne Embry and Alex English, I feel success down the road.

wow the team got legit cred. really quick. but i've been unimpressed by babcock's resume. although, i think with this hire it seems that vince is so out of the loop. last week he was mouthing off about wanting dr. j as the new gm but it seems that these three individuals had been in place for a long time, they were just waiting for the timberwolves season to end. i know there are a set of assumptions here but maybe this signifies the raptors growing estrangement with their star.

Now we can finally start talking about a COACH. You think we will re-contact that Phil Johnson guy from Utah? Anyway all I can say is I see success for us down the road.

    Go raps!

Finally, the agonizing search is over.

Good moves by the organization, hopefully we can get Eric Musselman as a coach, that would top our offseason in terms of front office and coaching changes.

    Who?

Who? I never heard of him, and I especially never heard of that name in the NBA Hall of Fame list.

What makes our organization think that Alex English would be better than Julius Erving?

Bro .. Alex English will be the director of player personnel, which almost have absolutle nothing to do with trades or free agents signing.

I like Rob Babcock because he's been there, he was Kevin Mchale's man in turning the T-Wolves into championship contenders.

What makes you think Erving is better than Alex English? Just get over the Erving thing. It's done, over, you can't reverse time to make things better. The Raptors are certainly going in the right direction, thats all I'm going to tell you buddy.

I never even cared if Dr. J didn't earn the General Manager position, as long as he got another job of the organization.

Rob 'Cock better make the Raptors an elite team if he was somehow selected over every great candidates like 'J.

I see no need in mocking him like that. Very good moves by the raptors, now with the management in place(which seems like it is in very good hands) we just need to find the right coach like musselman

Good moves...I like the Raps' new directions in taking experienced people and not going for the popular pick in Dr. J.

Now all we need is an experienced coach to go with it. Preferrably someone who has been a head coach before and not taking a chance on someone new like O'Neill. I don't mind the Raptors taking a chance on someone but I'm tired of having media circuses (as we had last year and with Butch Carter) just because they made mistakes (with the players and the media) that experienced coaches don't.

    oh god [IMG]

how is dr j a great candidate and babcock isnt? what has dr j done as an exec to make him any more of a candidate over babcock? look at the t-wolves...an elite team in the league. obviously your not too educated on the subject, so since you cant help that, why dont you try being a little more tactfull and mature.

ill take babcock and alex english over dr j ANY day

^werd, I never even knew that english and the others were gonna be part of the front office. Is there any word that Dr. J will get any other position in the Raptors office?

And Again, we can finally focus on finding a coach

    DJ good post.

I too would like to see Dr. J in some capacity with the raps. Who knew that the Raps were actually thinking beyond just the GM position. Embry and English are great additions to a front office that, before these hires, had no basketball sense.

I don't even think that Vince will be all that upset about Dr. J. I think he just wanted some credibility in the front office. I think they've done that. I might be wrong with that statement. I guess we'll see over the next couple of days. A superstar always has an opinion, but it's just that. Look at Jermaine O'Neal after he found out Isiah was fired from Indy. He was ticked off, but he got over it and the team was better this year.

Good move on the Raptors part bringing in some people that have actually played in the NBA. Babcock helped put together an allstar lineup in Minnesota so I am intrigued as to what he would have in store for the Raptors. I would not be surprised if we see a big overhaul of the roster during this summer.

Why do some people want Dr. J so much? Just because he is a well known name in the NBA does not mean that he is the right man for the job.

I just saw the speech that Babock put up to the media, and I am pretty impressed by his confidence. That is very much needed in the Raptors organization. Now let's hope that he takes the Raptors to heights never achieved before.

because they dont know their history very well. alex english is a hall of famer and a former all-star. he wasnt the superstar that dr j was...but he certainly was a top 10 player in the league during his time. im excited to have him aboard [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]
