<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">AUBURN HILLS, Mich.?Vince Carter wanted Julius Erving to work for the Raptors but the legendary Dr.J didn't get a job. The question now is whether Carter will play for the team next season.

While new general manager Rob Babcock says he doesn't want to trade the 27-year-old all-star and Carter has not publicly demanded a deal, there are whispers around the NBA that a trade is something not to be entirely discounted.

At the Chicago pre-draft camp and at the NBA Finals, Carter's future in Toronto is open for discussion and, for the first time, the prospect of the Raptors at least exploring options is real.</div>

    Full Article

.. Happened earlier this offseason with Allen Iverson. The easiest thing to find this time of the year is an NBA trade rumour. Vince hasn't said anything yet, Babcock said he'd build the team around him, so unless some source comes up with something to say, it's just a rumour.

It's going to be a fun off season. Wait until the week of the draft! Rumours will be everywhere! I don't hold much stock in Toronto Media. The GM search was a mess, but the media coverage was too! One day they would print one thing, the next day it would be something completly different.

the Toronto Media are idiots, a bunch of puckheads looking to break a story. Personally i don't buy it. Has Vince publically said he wants to be traded? Thought so. Guys like Feschuk and the other idiots that stir up ish are idiots.

I hate the Toronto media too, they always have to find/make something to write about. I don't take these trade rumours seriously....why?...because hockey season is over so they need to find another story to focus on.

There's no love from the media towards the Raps whatsoever! ..
Other media circles in other cities support their local team and deep inside they're fans themselves, yes they critisize players and coaches, but they still support the team.
But our media always tries to show us the negative side of our orgnization, if we ( Raps Fans ) weren't educated enough about the game and don't join BBALL forums, and so for, 80% of us ( at least ) would go to the ACC holding up ANTIRAPS signs.

    I hate it!

Is it me, or is Vince the raptors! I couldn't imagine vince somewhere else, I don't know why, but he belongs were he belongs, but I heard him talkin about, that he was tired of all the people in canada to take hockey over basket........hopes he stayes a rap, cause they really love him in that building and that isn't for nothing they love him, they pay, and they get showtime! and even if toronto isn't a mega big city, he would loose an enormous amount of fans, if he gets traded.

I always criticize Carter, but this is the first time I've said this in a long long time, but I don't want Vince to be traded (unless its for the right players). Right now I'm not going to explain why, but until he publicly says something I won't comment, for all we know he may come out soon and say all of it is ridiculous.

has the toronto media said who the raps would trade vc for? have they thrown any names out that would be logical trade options or do they just like to stir the pot up?

People don't realize that Vince is a franchise player, and that he can't be replaced by most of the players in the NBA, and that includes players "that have a great future", or simply above average centers like Dampier. I would give him one more chance which is next season, and if he doesn't have an excellent year, I would consider him to be traded.

Don't bank on that excellent year. I was hoping for the same thing last season and my hopes were lifted when he scored 39 in the first game of the season, but he disappointed me once again. [IMG]

Trade Carter while he's still tradable.

i think carter should of satisfied everybody, he played throgh his injuries, and didn't do bad at all, so i don't know how u can call last year 'disappointing'. i know he could of taken it to the rack abitmore, but i think he is getting back to that year where he took us to the playoffs and almost advance to the conference finals

Honestly, i wouldn't be surprised if Vince left the Raps and T.O. I'm sure he's sick of the media and just wants to go to some place where everyone will like him and not criticize him 24/7. I hate just about every t.o. newspaper columnists and editors. It's almost as if they all want him to leave.

vince would be more successful if he didn't have to carry a team. he is a good player now, but if he is on a team that has more big options besides him then that will take defensive pressure off of him and he can do more. he won't have to maybe play as many minutes and maybe wouldn't get injured because he won't have to push himself as much. i think if toronto doesn't get more quality proven players that he might ask to leave himself unless if he is really loyal and can wait a few years to try and win the east or the nba title. i see him in the same situation as tmac is in except tmac doesnt have vc's injury problems. if vc keeps getting injured, his trade value will keep getting lower and toronto wont get what they could get if he is healthy, so maybe if toronto is out of the playoff race by the trade deadline or they see that they are not moving foward as a franchise, then maybe they would trade him if he is healthy and can trade him to a contending team or almost contending team who will give up more if he is healthy and b/c if that franchise gets him he might put them over the top so they will give up more value for him which benefits toronto.

last season when he scored at will against my nets, i thought he was fully back and ready to take him team not just into the playoffs, but to at least the second round of the playoffs. then the team seemed to spin out of control and it was the beginning of the end [IMG] .

whats the point of this? there are trade rumours for every single known player in the nba. and this is so small, "there are whispers around the NBA that a trade is something not to be entirely discounted.".......once again every single player

IMO I don't think trading Vince is the best idea for Toronto. I used to like the idea because his trade value is as high as it's going to be come summertime. But looking at the Raptors future I see them handing over the team to Chris Bosh in the next two years. Pending injuries this kid will get better and you can book that.

Paired along with Carter being the second fiddle to Bosh's violen they would make a very dangerous pair with Carter being able to play off of Bosh. This way he is not the #1 option and is able to move around without the ball and get easy shots.

Carter has not said anything as of yet regarding whether or not he is leaving so I would not comment on that. My guess is that Carter is staying and he wants to stay. If the Raps are patient and develope a few players from the draft, they will have a team that can compete for the ECF.

You both do realize that any where he goes, if he does leave, he will still be criticized. The Toronto Media isn't the only place you can get bashed at you know, its the same in NY and a lot of other cities. When your a celebrity or a professional athlete wherever you go you'll be treated like this, so I wouldn't get so emotional about it.

They can't get equal value for Carter. Say what you will (and I have ... he's a *****) but the man sells tickets. Unfortunately he's not a winner.
