AA is pretty far from Major League Level baseball.</div> Im pretty sure that Jordan didn't hurt the Barons that much playing for them. But I know that his baseball rookie card is worth some loot.
In the NFL: Ronald Curry - injuries and not focusing on positions that require a lot of focus (QB, PG) flopped at not one, but two sports, now a kick returner in the NFL, lol Donavan McNabb - was a bench warmer at Syracuse, the only hoops memory i have of him is hitting a foul shot Tony Gonzalez - was a decent player, a starter in fact, but he was slow on the court Julius Peppers - he was a monster ball player, led the ACC in fg% if i'm not mistaken, I felt he was definitely NBA material Also, word has it Ray Durham outjumped MJ when they were in the white sox organization together.

Allen Iverson was a great QB at Newport News.. he was quick as hell too. Did Mike Vick play basketball? He must have, but I've never heard of it.
I feel kinda stupid by including NHL in my thread topic because I cannot think of any NHL player playing basketball. Even my friends that are die hard NHL fans hate basketball. It's kinda weird to me, not sure why these two sports have totally different kinda fans. Anyone have a clue? HaHa, I just remembered Manute Bol played hockey for a minor league team or tried at least. I think they denied him.
Ben WAllace was recruited out of high school for Football. He ended up dropping football and just played basketball at Aurbun.
This kinda has nothing to do with this topic but didn't Jason Richardson want to become a hockey player but couldn't find skates his size so his mom just bought him a basketball. Now look at him, he needs to thank those big feet of his.

Since he had the hops, he also had the soft hands and decided to become one of the NFL's best wide recievers in the game today.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Wave:</div><div class="quote_post">After seeing his failure, Randy Johnson <font size="1">(Diamondbacks Pitcher for those of you who are bball-only )</font> came out and said that he'd play Jordan in a game of 1-on-1 if Jordan could hit one of his fast-balls. Although this never happened, I thought it was pretty funny. Randy Johnson is pretty tall <font size="1">(6-5 or 6-6ish I believe)</font> and grew up playing basketball as well. </div> Randy Johnson is more like 6'9" or 6'10" by the way.. i dont think he wouldve done that bad against MJ Also, I heard that in highschool Allen Iverson was a bigger prospect than Michael Vick.. not sure if this is 100% true, but I've heard it a lot.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting WhiteManCanJump:</div><div class="quote_post"> Also, I heard that in highschool Allen Iverson was a bigger prospect than Michael Vick.. not sure if this is 100% true, but I've heard it a lot.</div> Allen Iverson has an amazing High School QB, one of the top in the country at the time. So yes, coming out of high schoo, he was a bigger prospect than Vick.
Juan Pierre of the Marlins is great at basketball, i've seen him on the court a few times at Heat shootarounds before a game on the court playing 1on1 with Dwyane Wade, lol.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Dre:</div><div class="quote_post">think about it. Jordan didn't "suck",sure he wasn't Bonds but he didn't suck especially if you look at the particulars. Hadn't played baseball at all for 20+ years and yet steps onto a professional baseball team and is able to hit about .200. That alone says something for the type of athlete he is and the dedication he had to the game to try and play the sport.</div> Hitting .200 in AA minor league is absolutely terrible and is the equivelant of hitting about .175 in AAA and .145 in the big leagues. The competition in AA is nothing special at all, the competition in college baseball is tougher than the competition in AA. Again I must emphasize that hitting .200 in AA is nothing special at all, it's far far far below average and if his name wasn't Michael Jordan he A) never would have even made the team in the first place and if he had made the team and hit .200 for a long period of time, would have been released after a season. You need to realize that there was a reason he was playing for a low level AA minor league team and not a team in the Major Leagues: he was horrible at the game. If he jumped onto a Major League team and hit .200 right from the start, that would be amazing, but the fact of the matter is he wasn't even good enough to be a bench player on a MLB team or even a AAA team for that matter. Any professional athlete in any sport, be it football, basketball, or baseball could very easily crossover to another sport and do well in that other sports respective minor league system.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Ronald Curry - injuries and not focusing on positions that require a lot of focus (QB, PG) flopped at not one, but two sports, now a kick returner in the NFL, lol</div> I am pretty sure that coming out of HS, Curry was the #1 rated basketball player, and the #1 rated football player.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Mr_Infante:</div><div class="quote_post">Kenny Lofton played some college hoops. But it's good that he stuck with baseball instead, he wouldn't have amounted to anything in the NBA.</div> In fact, Lofton played in the Final Four.
My dad got that MJ rookie card in a bronze plate I think and the one thing he was good at was stealing bases of course because of his speed. He stold 30 bases I believe and this is coming from a man that had a low on base pct%. And Randy Johnson is 6-10. The reason why he looks so tall is because the 2nd tallest ball player is 6'6, so his height sticks out like a sore thumb. Anyways I heard Tony Gwynn was a good basketball player in college. He got fat though in the Majors and has been retired for awhile now.
Pau Gasol like to be a soccer player when he was kid and David Beckham like basketball he use the 23 of MJ
Man I couldn't imagine AI in highschool hitting drills. I know Carmelo had a charity game with Mike Vick and Warren Sapp. Rod Smith and Ashley Lelie of the Broncos can play some bball. BTW Lebron played wide out in highschool football.
