Full Article .. Other than his game and good reputation around the league, I'm clueless on how he coaches, although according to several sources from the Milwakee Bucks say that he's had the bigger hand in the team's success this season.
Who is that? I agree with Courtvision, I definitely DID NOT see this coming. Oh well if he was a big hand in the Bucks success he might be able to help. I just hope he doesn't get fired after 1 season like all our other Kevin O'Neal.
The deal is done. But as usual, it's not going to be official untill the beggining of next week and the league confirmation.
I don't think anyone saw this coming. Right nowi can't judge the coach because i don't know how he coaches whether it's halfcourt, transition etc.

A look at Sam Mitchell : SAM I AM Mitchell had been an assistant with the Milwaukee Bucks for the past two seasons, and was recently hired to be the lead assistant under head coach/general manager Bernie Bickerstaff with the Charlotte Bobcats. The Bucks qualified for the playoffs in both of his seasons on the bench after missing the postseason before he arrived. Mitchell started his playing career as a member of the expansion Minnesota Timberwolves in the 1989-90 season and remained there for three years before he was acquired by Indiana in 1992. He re-signed with Minnesota as a free agent in 1995 and remained with the team until his retirement in 2002. Mitchell played in 994 regular season games and 59 playoff games with averages of 8.7 points, 3.7 rebounds and 1.1 assists. He tops on Minnesota's all-time list with 757 games played and is second in Timberwolves history with 7,161 points, 1,773 free throws made, 2,664 field goals made, 3,030 rebounds and 449 steals. Mitchell was drafted in the third round (54th overall) by Houston in the 1985 NBA Draft. Before entering the NBA, he played in the Continental Basketball Association for three seasons and played in Frances top professional league for two seasons (1987-89).

HOW CAN U GUYS NOT KNOW SAM MITCHELLL???? this guy played a HUGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE role in KG's devolpment in the years he was in minnesota KG even says he was one of the reasons he grew to the player he was, he was a huge influence on KG and im sure he can do the same with Vince, if he is willing to listen... I think this was a good pickup....he is more of a players' coach but you guys r being really skeptical....mayb this could work out who knows, onli time will tell but till then i think they picked up a good coach...
I hope this works out for the best, I thought I'd heard the name before but I agree with many others no one saw this coming. If he has half the effect he had on KG on Vince I think Vince will go back to being the prolific dunker/above the rim type player he was before.

WHATTTTTTTTT??? WOW.... never heard his name as one of the coaching candidates... o well... good pick up, hopefully he could help Chris Bosh's Develpment and make him into a Garnett!!
i like what the raps are doin right now, but i am still pissed about picking Aruojo instead of Ingudala!! i think we really need to get some good caleber players in free agents. we still need to pick a center up and PG. hopefully, Mark Blount, and trade for a pg or something
I Knew Who He Was As A Player Not As A Coach Any Ways He Cant Really Help Carter Get Better The Fact That The Played Center And Power Foward And Carter Players Sg Or Sf And Thats Not His Postion But He Can Sure As Hell Help Bosh And If He Helps Bosh And They Get Asolid Point Guard Then They Will Be A Lock For The Playoffs. O Yea And Vince Doesnt Get Injuries
i really thought dwayne casey was going to get the job, many regard him as the top assistant in the league.
All the good coaches in the NBA were decent players like Phil Jackson, Pat Riley, Mike Dunleavy and so forth. Sam Mitchell was a decent player, and hopefully this trend can continue. I think he was a great selection for our coach, and I hope he has brains and strict attitude towards his roster.
Never heard of him but he seems promisning. All i can say is fianlly, and now we can focus on Raptors Free Agency issues etc,.
I just listened to a Fan590 interview with Eric Musselman (ESPN Radio feed-off), and Eric mentioned that Sam Mitchell will be a great head coach in this league, and the Raptors did a good job signing him. I know that Eric isn't just talking from no where, because Sam played for his father, and knows him personally, and knows how he coaches as well, says hes very very intelligent on the game.
I would have liked Eric Mussellman, but i guess Sam Mitchell will be as good or better... Hopefully..
