<div class="quote_poster">Quoting CourtVision:</div><div class="quote_post">I am extremely happy that he has decided to come back to Toronto. It seems like his shooting has improved since he left and I have no doubt that he can be the distributing point guard we have seen in the past. I'm actually excited about the Raptors squad next season: PG- Rafer Alston SG- Vince Carter SF- Jalen Rose PF- Chris Bosh C- Rafael Araujo It is good to be a Raptors fan....for now.</div> Ye i totally agree with you wit everything exxcept for that line up. U cant have arajuo in the starting lineup yet. Maybe in the future but for now donyell has proven himself and he deserves the spot. as for alston i dont really know i still might go wit alvin for a while longer. I know the line up will still be small but these are the raps most talented guys. PG-Jalen Rose SG- Alvin Williams SF-Vince Carter PF-Donyell Marshall C-Chris Bosh(He prolly worked out and got bigger) Our bench but i dont know how many of these guys are still gonna be here. Rafer Alston Mo Pete(if he stays) Rod Strickland Corey Blount Jerome Moiso Rafael Araujo Michael Curry Lamond Murray
^Ideally we want to keep Bosh at the 4 because it would hurt his developement overall if he started at the 5 again. He has worked out and gotten a little bigger but not enough to even match most 4's in the league much less 5's.
Its a great signing for us. He makes below the projected mid level exception, but the contract is little lengthy. His contract will be done when he's 34. I would prefer it was a 3 year or 4 year contract. I guess we would of had to sign Hudson to the same amount as years as Alston, because they're the same age, and would probably ask more, but still under the anual mid-level exception. Funny how things can change in 2 years. Rafer was backing up Alvin and now he'll likely be backing up Skip. PG- Rafer Alston/Alvin Williams/Milt Palacio SG- Vince Carter/Alvin Williams/Roger Mason SF- Jalen Rose/ Lamond Murray PF- Chris Bosh/Donyell Marshall C- Rafael Araujo/Jerome Moiso/Pape Sow (if he makes the team)
Skip is back!! This is such a good sign for us even though it's a little large. It basically eliminates us signing any more FA's for the rest of the offseason. Hopefully signing skip will convince Carter to want to stay in Toronto. Skip is most likely going to be starting considering how huge his contract is. It'd be a waste if he were a bench player. His shot's improved a lot this season's n he's arguably one of the better 3-pt shooters in the league now.
I am now a raptors fan again. Skip has gotta be the best point gaurd they could've gotten other than Derek Fisher but he doesnt want to come to canada so ya and Troy Hudson is a shoot first player we already have enough shooters(Carter, Rose, Marshall). I was a raptors fan when they had Voshon Lenard and Rafer Alston as there backcourt but things change, since Rafer is back I am once again a raptors fan.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting McGrady^1:</div><div class="quote_post">^ not a true raptor fan..... neways i am happy skip is back....prediction ....skip : 10pts, 7-8 apg</div> I know, he's a bandwagon fan. I dont mind if he gets under 10 PPG, the key stats are his Assists and TO. He had a very good Assist to TO ratio last year, and I hope he could improve on that by upping his assists with the Raps to around 7.
Good pick up. hell, atleast we have a point guard now. now there doesnt seem to be any plus side from trading vince. we have a pg with a huge contract and a center that we'll need to take our chances with. Rafer/Alvin Williams/Jalen Rose Vince Carter/Mo Pete(?)/Jalen/Alvin Jalen Rose/Mo Pete(?)/Donyell Marshall Chris Bosh/Donyell/Pape Sow Rafael Araujo/Bosh
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Duece~2:</div><div class="quote_post">If Carter leaves, you guys may consider Rafer Alston to play some SG!</div> Why? We could just have: PG - Alston SG - Rose SF - MoPete and if Carter leaves we'll get someone at the 2 or 3 anyways. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting "deception":</div><div class="quote_post">this was the second best point guard on the market, too bad grunwald didn't sign him cheaper last year for a long term contract when his value wasn't so high.</div> That's why Grunwald isn't here anymore <div class="quote_poster">Quoting notic147:</div><div class="quote_post">Skip is back!! Him and Skip weren't on good terms when he was in TO, Rafer challenged Carter, questioning his heart.
I prefered Hudson from my heart, so I don't understand the point in getting Alston when he's unproven. He's probably not good enough to be a starting PG, so basically we desperately need one because Alvin Williams is most likely on the downfall. Remember when Alston was playing great in the early games with the Raptors, and playing crap later on? It might show that Alston is an inconsistent player, and inconsistency has hurt the Raptors.

i think skip played amazing towards to end of season when Carter was out, he avged something like 18pts 7asists and 4 boards.... or something close to that
Why is everyone thinking Rafer will back up Alvin? Despite Alvin Williams's health problems and his mediocre play last season, he is still our leader and gives his all while on the court. Rafer, meanwhile, is turnover-prone and can be a bit over-flashy at times. So what if he shot a good percentage from three-point range? He didn't manage to shoot over 40% overall. Is that better than Alvin Williams, who is consistent and reliable?
i wanna c him cross some one over really bad lol. im so happy we finally got a solid point guard anyways headache is plaing for the knicks at the summer league thing image if the knicks sign him that would be so cool
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dunksworth:</div><div class="quote_post">I kinda have mixed emotions right now because I'm happy we got Rafer back, but man, that contract $29 million for 6 years seems a little too crazy for a guy who only really had one good season. Plus he's turning 28 this month so that means we'll have him till he's 34. I guess I can't blame Babcock for doing it though. It seems like everyone's getting huge contracts this off-season so he just wanted to make sure we can get one of the big name FA pgs. Oh well, now I can't wait to see Alston play alongside Vince, Bosh and Jalen next season.</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/stor...marc&id=1835443 It actually says that the contract will be a 5 year $21 million with the team's option on the 6th year. Now it doesn't look too too bad does it?
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Alston's contract is reportedly guaranteed for $21 million over the first five years. The Raptors, sources said, hold a club option for the sixth season which, with incentives, take that figure into the $29 million range.</div> http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/stor...marc&id=1835443 So now it's a five-year $21 million + option contract which doesn't seem too bad. I just hope he can live up to the expectations now.

Alvin Williams averaged 1.39 TO/game last season while playing only 56 games and Rafer Alston averaged 1.56 TO/game while playing in all 82 games. Alvin's definitely got the heart and is a hard-nosed player but he desperately needs to rest his body and let everything heal up. By playing him off the bench it allows him to be productive while putting minimal stress on his ankles and knees.

It definitely seems a lot better now (maybe still a little too much, but I'm not complaining, it's not nearly as bad as Foyle's massive contract).
