http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=1837761 man, if Carlos Delfino can produce, McDyess can stay healthy, and Darko can start to contribute.....the Pistons have a ridiculous amount of depth. easily the best bench in the league.
If heathly this is a great signing, once Dice came back last season from injury he played well and played the rest of every game of last season his doctors say he is fine and should be able to produce off the bench. A bench of Hunter James Delfino Williamson Mcdyness Campbell will be very strong. the deal is actually guaranteed for four years and $23 million, with the final year becoming guaranteed if McDyess plays a minimum of 60 games in the fourth year of the deal.
Does this impact, in any fashion, their ability to re-sign Rasheed Wallace? If not, they'll be even better next year. Just hope that Darko can get some minutes...

This signing could make for a very good bench, no, extremely good. They'll have a ton of depth once again. Plus, this could also be insurance if they are inable to resign Rasheed Wallace, make sure they have a solid starting power forward, which McDyess can be if he's healthy. But, overall, this will be good signing for them. It will give them a good starting power forward if Wallace doesn't return, and, if he does, it adds even more depth to an already ridiculously deep bench.
Source: McDyess agrees to Pistons' four-year, $23 million deal <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Antonio McDyess has accepted the Detroit Pistons' four-year, $23 million contract offer, a source told The Associated Press on Monday. The NBA champion Pistons will be able to sign the 6-foot-9 forward on Wednesday when a two-week player movement moratorium expires. The source, speaking on condition of anonymity, said a fifth year is included in the deal but it is not guaranteed. McDyess has averaged 16.7 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 blocks during his eight-year career, which has been plagued by injuries since the 2000-01 season. He played 42 games last season -- 24 in Phoenix and 18 with New York -- and averaged 6.9 points and 6.1 rebounds. McDyess played just 10 games for Denver during the 2001-02 season -- one season after averaging 20.8 points and 12.1 rebounds -- and missed all of the 2002-03 season with knee problems.</div> <div align="center">Link</div>
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting jdub:</div><div class="quote_post">isnt this kind of a big contract for antonio mcdyess</div> In a way yes but It's no different to what less talented players have been getting this summer. Dice If he stays heathly will be a real threat in the low post and be a force under the backboards when the starters go to the bench. As I stated he never missed a game this year as soon as he returned from the long term injury. While showing no signs of getting hurt again or not willing to play at a high level.
Good improvising for Okur leaving, I dont get it why would someone want to leave a championship team? I too was hoping to see a little more Darko in the season but this will do. Pistons>another ring?
Another great pick up by Joe Dumars. The length of the contract, at 4 years, is a little surprising, but getting Dice for a little over $5M a season is a solid addition. He can give the Pistons defense and inside scoring off the bench, and help take the pressure off both of the Wallace's. He will also be another solid mentor for Darko, and fits right in chemistry wise with this team. He is one of many written off stars who make up the Pistons roster. As a Laker fan, I'm glad they kept him away from the Spurs as well.

Great money offer, bad length of years. You really can't give 4 years for someone like Dice. But if he can stay healthy, it's a great pick up. I'm a fan of Dice.
dang another person logging minutes away from Darko oh well.I hope McDyess gets hit by a bus going 60mph so hes injured for 8 games so that Darko will have a solid 18mpg and can prove why the D used their number2 pick on him.
Nice pickup, he could produce more than Okur did if he stays healthy, and you guys didn't have to pay as much, great pickup. He's going to add toughness to an already tough team. Joe Dumars is a genius.
its incredible. three years ago dice was one of the best PF's in the league. now the pistons get him for practically nothin. And if he satys healthy than he will be the sixth man if the year for sure! but i hope darko gets his minutes but this bench we will have will be one of the best the world has seen!
