The patriots win the super bowl this year? then they will have 48 wins in last for years and 3 super bowl titles. This is unheard of in the salary cap era. There have been teams that have stayed good for 4-6 years, but not good enough to win super bowl(philly, miami, pittsburgh, denver), other teams that did win it, hit the cap and crumbled, but no one has maintained this level of excellence in so many aspects of a team. The ownership to the players, everyone is in sync, Is this the greatest team of all time?
I still have no idea how the Patriots are doing what they are doing....Belichek uses smoke and mirrors and whomps everyones ass....no other coach in history has been able to gameplan this much success without mroe dominating talent....Im at a loss for words, I don't get it.....

Just a theory but the amount of talent needed to be an all-pro type player is say 100 and then the amount to be an undrafted FA is 97, does not leave much room for error.
They are certainly one of the best anyway. ESPN had a poll comparing Belichek's Patriots to Jimmy Johnson's Cowboys. It was a close 51-49 split last time I checked. I think they have some great talent, don't get me wrong. But much like the Cowboys of that day, a lot of it is scheme too. The Cowboys had a lot of interchangeable parts that they could lose players and keep rolling. The Patriots have done the same over the last 4-5 years.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Steelerfan_2004)</div><div class='quotemain'>It's not going to matter when they lose Sunday in Pittsburgh... </div> Props to you SF for keeping it in the present. You had a big hole to jump in with the 70s Steelers and rightfully so. So I gotta ask. How does your 70s boys matchup to this years Steelers? I hope I know your answer.
It was a different game back then. Noll was a different coach than Cowher. Now with that being said, I think this defense is close to being as dominant as the ones in the 70's. Our running game is close with Bettis & Staley mirroring Bleier & Harris. The biggest difference is Roethlisberger. He's lacking big game experience. But we're supposed to have snow and lots of wind on Sunday with temps in the 20's. So running the ball and playing good defense will win the game. Whoever does a better job on defense and not turning the ball over will win. I highly doubt that Brady or Roethlisberger have much impact with the weather conditions as such.
I believe this Patriot team is as good as the early Bears, Cowboys, 49ers, Steelers, Dolphins and Packers.
According to the MRF model the last few flakes of snow should be done around noon time in Pittsburgh. Its a long ways out still and the timing is hard to predict but the bulk of the storm should be done by gametime. Which I would prefer going against a team like Pitt. I'd much rather have it come down to the passing game.
