We'll do a little poll and see what we can come up with. I'll just name a few no brainers and we'll get people add more and put them in order and we'll see who belongs in the top 25. Montana Bradshaw Unitas Starr A. Mannig Marino Young Elway Brady Staubach Griese Theisman P. Manning Aikman Simms Namath
My current top ten... Brett Favre John Elway Joe Montana Dan Marino Johnny Unitas Terry Bradshaw Troy Aikman Steve Young Peyton Manning Tom Brady And I agree... Namath was not a great QB.
My top ten: Roger Staubach Joe Montana Troy Aikman Dan Fouts Johnny Unitas Brett Favre Fran Tarkenton(sp?) Ken Stabler John Elway Terry Bradshaw Honorable Mention: Jim Hart - Best pure pocket passer I ever saw. Later.....

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (T.Oforphil81)</div><div class='quotemain'>And bleed quick question how the hell do you put Brady in front of namath you idiot!!!!!!!!</div> I don't normally sing Brady's praises as a great QB, but I would definitely put Brady ahead of Namath. Did you guys even see Namath play at all? Broadway Joe was born because he was a hot head in a bar and his defense and running game backed him up one year. This is a case where stats do not lie ? he was average at best that had a knack for making big plays from time to time. Brady fits into a group with Bart Starr, Bob Griese, and Troy Aikman. I would put these three into a top 25 and Brady will probably earn a place too if not already. Manning, like Brady, is a little early maybe, but will certainly be in my top list. He fits more into the Unitas, Fouts, and Marino type. No other young guns can be considered?.Culpepper and McNabb included. Give me Roger Staubach, John Elway, Steve Young, Fran Tarkenton as my mobile guys. Throw in magic men Montana, Favre, and probably Kenny Stabler for some reason. I guess strong-armed Bradshaw can eek in there. Tuna threw out Jim Hart as his ?veteran committee? choice. I will throw in Archie Manning. I loved to watch this guy even though his team perennially stunk. Unfortunately, I have to stick to the Superbowl era, as I have seen very little of the pre-SB era to be able to evaluate the Sid Luckman, Sammy Baugh, YA Tittle, Norm Van Brocklin, etc. players, but I am sure there are some top 25 players there too. I guess I put about 16 on the list. Who is the best? Depends on what kind of team you have that you want them to play on.

I will throw in Archie Manning. I loved to watch this guy even though his team perennially stunk. Yea CB71 I thought about Archie too, but he would make the top of my list of QB's that I felt sorry for every time I saw them play. Craig Morton would be another. Dan Pastorini also comes to mind. BF1 and I were debating this topic about a year or so ago....We foudn that in matters of football, emotional attachment to players and teams couldnt be removed from our beliefs so we set out to find a way to remove them....I basically input every QB with atleast 20k passing yards(there were 75 of them) into a spreadsheet and then ranked them in every major passing category....from this I was able to get an average of where they fall in the statistical history of the game, I then took that average and subtracted the number of the titles they won as a starter....the number i came up with became the "Career Ratings Index"....I will post what I have, remember these numbers were from before the season that just ended because we originally did this last summer.... All players were ranked 1-75 in the following categories: Passing Yards, Completion %, % of passes for TDs, % of passes for INT(lowest ranking highest), yards per attempt....add the total ranking together, divide by 5 and then subtract the number of titles won as a starter.... its really interesting when I look back on the rankings that Testeverde came in just ahead of Cunningham....that I didnt expect but it will keep the debate raging for a while....
If your doing this list everyone should do a little research on on Otto Graham. He's the definition of "winning quarterback". He deserves to be on everyones list, and pretty close to the top. Hey Pack Attack: I want to see your all-time list....you gotta give a shout out to Lynn Dickey!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pack Attack)</div><div class='quotemain'>Ah, Lynn Dickey... The painful Packers years! *shudder* Don't remind me... </div> I was kind of waiting for you to announce to everyone that you scored a Paul ot Carruth or Walter Stanley jersey on e-bay!
