Yea, if you misquote something, it can sound much different than it's intended to sound.

Funny thread. Let me try to break it down for some of you guys.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"If you look at what they did, they both were slashers, they both were shooters, how are they any different? Jordan had his fadeaways. Pippen used to post up and bring the ball up at the small forward spot." </div>

"If you look at what they did"<--- meaning they coexisted

"they both were slashers, they both were shooters,"<--- they basically played the same game.

"how are they any different?"<--- meaning how hard can it be?

"Jordan had his fadeaways." <--- meaning Vince has his fadeaways, he never said that it's as great as MJ's.

"Pippen used to post up and bring the ball up at the small forward spot."<--- Basically like RJ and he never said that it's as great as Pippen's.

He never said that I'm like Scottie and Vince is like MJ so they'll have no problems. Basically he said that MJ and Scottie are both swingmen who coexisted greatly, so it's possible to coexist. That's basically how simple it is.

It's like me saying that I'm like Shaq coz we both bang down low and my cousin is Kobe coz he slashes and shoots jumpers. But I'm not saying that we're as great as them. I'm just saying that we play the same way.

Jordan had his fadeaways. Pippen used to post up and bring the ball up at the small forward spot."

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Why don't you read the title first and reply? I clearly said "R.J. Claims him and Vince are LIKE MJ & SP.</div>

Why don't you read your reply? Here you go:

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">RJ also goes on to say that Pippen used to post up, well if he's going to be in that "Pippen Role" like he claims, I don't think I've seen him post up that many times.</div>

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">RJ basically inferred that them and SP & M.J. were no different by saying that. How are they any different? By a margin of 10 to the power of infinite</div>

MJ and Pippen were a different by a margin of 10 the "power of infinite" (which should be infinity)? I beg to differ. MJ was a lot better but now THAT much better.

According to SLAM's Lang Whitaker, a close friend of RJ's told him that RJ is "esctatic that Vince is here". That's great to hear because an ever improving RJ (check the games, droppin 38 and 42) plus a rejuvinated Vince could spell dangers for opposing teams. And let's not forget that Jason Kidd's not even fully back to "Jason Kidd-mode" yet.

dont mean to offend but could it still be a bit upset that Vince is in Jersey now. And not looking back.
    </div>

Even though I wasn't one of the Raptor fans who misinterpreted RJ's comments and blew them out of context, I must respond to this.
I'm a Raptor fan as well as a Vince fan and I actually am kind of bitter on this trade. I think we got a good trade (for what Vince is worth now) back but it's like someone said...losing Vince in Toronto was like losing a girl you'd gone with for 7 years. Yeah, she isn't always there for you, yes the relationship sometimes was tough but you still loved her, and that's exactly how Toronto embraced Vince Carter.
We cheered him on his hard times and until recently, cheered him during his bad. After the trade demand though, most Raptors fans basically saw it as a slap in the face. I am bitter about losing Vince because I grew up watching him. I loved watching Raptor games at the age of 11 (that's how old I was in 1999) and just watching Vince period. He was the reason I fell in love with basketball again. He was the reason I started watching Raptor games more regularly. He was the reason why I would be proud to rock a Toronto Raptors jersey, no matter if the stupid dinosaur was on it or not. Guess Vince going out of Toronto was kind of like a wake up call for me cause I realize that the good times eventually and things change. It's sad to see him go and I'll always be a Vince fan at heart. I wish him all the sucess and I must admit, I was one of those fans who lashed out at Vince earlier this year but a couple of months can't erase the other 6 years of memories that he has provided me with.

    Read this...

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting spawn:</div><div class="quote_post">I think you guys misinterpreted. He's saying how Pippen and MJ basically played the same spot and managed to co-exist. He's saying they could model themselves after MJ & Pippen, he's not saying he's like them, just that they could co-exist and play like they used to.

I'm really excited for Jersey, I hope they can turn it around.</div>

    Then this...

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Henacy:</div><div class="quote_post">RJ in no way said him & Vince are MJ & Pip. The question the reporter asked will their be a conflict with two similar wing players on the same team. So he simply used MJ & Pip as an example of wing players who made each other better. And he views playing with Vince will only make him better & vice versa. He stated no more, no less</div>

I think thats what RJ meant too. Its not like hes saying "were the next MJ and SP". I think hes also saying, him and Vince can co exist like Jordan and Pip

I understand where you are coming from playa in alot of aspects. I think its alway hard to see your favorite player go from your favorite team. But at the same time you have to take into account how much of this league is business. And in the NBA world of today with consistent trades & free Agency moves made with the $ as the bottom line, players are going to switch teams all the time.

The problem I see( not talking about anyone particularly, just in general) is Vince getting alot of backlash after the trade. And its like people need to understand , its still ok to support Vince even if he isnt in a Raptors Jersey. But at the same time still be a die hard Raptors fan.

Those of you who are laughing your heads off clearly misinterputated what he was trying to say and imply. Basically RJ is saying that two players that play the same posistion, can co-exist together, just like MJ and Pippen did. RJ and Vince Carters game, are similar and different at the same time. Simple as that. You guys have blown this out of proportion.
