With Saban unhappy that he doesn't have a second round pick this year, he will have to accept the best deal for the #2 pick in the draft. There is no doubt in my mind that the Vikings will trade the 7 and 18 picks to Miami, just because Fowler would shit his pants if he had to pay two 1st round signing bonuses, especially after the FA splurge this offseason. With the #2 pick then, the Vikes can get the guy they've wanted all along since dealing Moss, Braylon Edwards. The Vikings wont need the 18th pick anyhow, which wouldve been a DE anyways, because they signed sleeper Aaron Kampman to an offer sheet, and it looks like the Packers wont match that. I am sure almost everyone will disagree with me, just like they did on KFAN a few weeks ago, but this makes the most sense. I would be very shocked to see them keep both picks.
If the Packers don't match the offer to Kampman, they're retarded. They have the money and Sherman really likes the guy. He was our best defensive lineman last year, as sad as that sounds...
As I understand it, the 7th & 18th overall are equitable value for the #2 overall, so, it would not surprise me to see Minn work something out w/ Saban. If SF takes Rodgers, Miami will select Smith and send him to Tampa for the #5 overall & 2 additional picks.
This just in http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylc=X3oD...cr-trades042005 In the words of Larry the Cable guy, "Git R done"
We'll the vikes may not be getting their grubby little hands on A Kamp, the packers have matched the offer.
In repsonse to vikingfan, it was on the PA and Dubay show, some other guy had the same idea as me, and Dubay shot it down. I would never call in on KFAN. It takes like 2 hours to get on.
I could see the Vikings trading one of the picks down to get a third round pick and then using it to draft Kicker Mike Nugent, in addition to whatever other compensation they get. I just don't see them trading both picks for a HIGHER pick. The draft class just isn't that strong. I think they're sitting pretty by standing pat.

I'm not sure if they end up trading up for Edwards. Trust me, I would like to see them get Edwards, but I don't think it will happen. Giving up two picks in the first round, especially when there is a decent chance that Williams will be available at #7. If they were to move up to #1 or #2, then they have 0 picks until late in the 2nd round, which I don't think they would be willing to do. They want to stockpile picks...
I think they will keep their picks and hope Williams falls to 7. Or maybe they package # 7 with a third round pick, next year's second, and one of their RB's? They may try something creative around those lines...?
