I am not advertising anything here..I am thinking about purchasing one. I have some questions. I have asked roughly 15 people that have owned/own one..and all but one (a fellow JBB member) has told me to purchase it. So, if anyone has one...can you answer my following questions please? Which one should I get, the regular iPod or the iPod mini? How is the battery life on both? Is it easy to put songs on them? Are they durable? I heard the sound quality was trash, is this true? Just simple questions...also, if you have any other suggestions for an mp3 player..can you suggest those? *note- I need them to hold atleast 500 songs. Don't suggest the Dell Pocket DJ, had it...returned it Thank ya guys
dude...i really wouldnt go ipod. iv owned one, and i thought it was crap. the battery life is garbage. other then that...it just didnt do anything that any other portable mp3 player does...and it cost a hell of a lot more for the price, you're better off gettng a nomad ZEN player, or an Iriver.
Thanks for the advice, I will check that one.. I am not going for style..I have just heard a lot of good about the iPod... Thanks for the info
oh yea...and to answer some of your questions... <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Which one should I get, the regular iPod or the iPod mini?</div> which ever mp3 player you do decide on...its not that much more for a WHOLE lot more harddrive space. id go regular, instead of mini...because for an extra 100 bucks, you're looking at about 15gigs more space <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> How is the battery life on both?</div> the battery life on my zen player is phenomenal...iv gone a week without needing to charge it. after half a year of ipod use...the battery was next to useless. iv had my zen player for over a year now, and i charge it about once every 5 days. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Is it easy to put songs on them?</div> very...they come with a disc, and the software takes about 2 mins to install...you just connect the mp3 player via USB, and its just a click and a click and they transfer over. only takes about 10 seconds per track <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> Are they durable?</div> as long as you dont drop it in water...should last you <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> I heard the sound quality was trash, is this true?</div> naw...sound quality is as good as CD or better. but it all depends on the quality of the download. just dont download any tracks with a bitrate of under 192 and you'll be set. most of my mp3's are 320, so i get better then CD quality hope i helped
Rich kids. I bought a 256mb in May last year, and I'm thinking of upgrading. The Creative Zen is also my dream toy, since Creative is a Singaporean company where I come from, and also because it is just as good as the iPod if not better with a much cheaper price tag. Also, 8 Ball, I'm not sure if it happens in your area, but from what I've read in the papers here in Toronto, kids are getting mugged for their iPods on the street because of the distinct white earphones. Safety is an issue there.
^^word...forgot to mention that. creative is a TOP notch computer product company. they also own yamaha or something like that...they make top of the line audio equipment...creative studio boards are industry best as well...so quality isnt an issue
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Trip:</div><div class="quote_post">I got a question though: How does the Dell DJ suck? I've been thinking of getting one now too.</div> I don't know if they are all like this but mine was: -way too big and bulky, everytime it is in your pocket...it is like it is trying to give you some dome -Not every song you transfer on there plays automatically, you have to manually play it sometimes -Mine started bugging out a week after I got it, it started pausing in the middle of every song automatically -the sound quality is complete garbage -battery life is wack I would say chip in an extra 50 for atleast an iPod mini, I know those are better than the Dell's
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting dj_premium_plus:</div><div class="quote_post">^^word...forgot to mention that. creative is a TOP notch computer product company. they also own yamaha or something like that...they make top of the line audio equipment...creative studio boards are industry best as well...so quality isnt an issue</div> How much does the creative Zen weigh? Is it very noticable if you put it in your pocket?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Kobe 8 Ball:</div><div class="quote_post">One other question..anyone know how the Rio mp3 players are?</div> I have it and I love it! I was actually going to buy an iPod, but I checked some MP3's and DVD's just for the hell of it and it really really attracted me. The songs quality is better than an iPod, the music tranferring is as easy as DJ described above, and the life battery is amazing as well. If you can get your hands on a Rio MP3 with 256+ MB, cop it. P.S- I ain't no Rio salesman
DJ: How is the Zen thingy when you work out? Is it bulky? do you carry it around your arm or in your pocket? I need to know these things!
I am looking for something that won't be bulky.. The Rio 5Gb was suggested to me by Knicks Analyst... I will check that one out now.
I picked up the Ipod mini for my g/f, the pink one of course. She swears by it, and takes it to the gym all the time. I liked the speed it ripped CDs and converted them to play on the iPod. Also there are a shitload of accessories you can get with them. So far no complaints about the battery life. I have had both a Rio and a Creative. The problem I had with the Rio, was it craps out once you need to update the drivers. I have the Creative MuvoTX, light weight, easy to use, holds enough songs to get you through a workout.
yea...the zen is a little heavier then an ipod. the ipod is a little slimmer, and weighs less. especially the mini. i guess thats one advantage the ipod has over the zen player. but the zen player is fine to work out with...i have no problems at least...when i do my cardio, i just set it on the machine, when im doing weights or whatever, i keep it in my poket and it seems fine.
I have an ipod mini and i love it, although I'm going to be realistic. The battery is exaclty what DJ said: crap, it lasts about 8 hours, but its recharcheable, and it really isn't a hassle at all to plug it in before you go to sleep . I like the sound, plus im not much of a complainer so I didn't really judge it on that, and yes the songs are quite easy to add, just copy and paste them onto the removable drive in iTunes. In terms of going to the gym, I do the same thing as DJ, cardio i set it on the machine, for weights its in my pocket. The good thing about them is that you can add accessories like an FM transmitter that, while in your car, can set your ipod down and with the transmitter, it will intercept a radio signal (private) where you can play your library of songs from the speakers in your car.
yea...the zen is got an internal battery similar to the ipod...you just plug it in to recharge it. of course its certainly not a hassle to just plug it in at night before you go to bed...but if you forget, or if you're not at home or dont have immediate access to your charger, you're pretty much out of luck for a 2nd day of use. my zen player can go a solid few hours a day for a few days before it needs a recharge. thats the one thing i love about it....well, that and that it holds 20 gigs of music
Thanks for all the input guys, I think I made my decision..I am going to stick with the iPod...thanks for all the input.
Well, I got my iPod and it is pure and utter crap... Jk I love it..sounds good, easy to work...once again..thanks for all the input on everything.
There are a lot of hot rumors flying around... * 4G iPods in mini colors * 5 and 6 gig iPod minis with color screens * 4G iPods with bluetooth
