    "Shark Bait" Warriors Meet

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">OAKLAND, Calif. ? The Golden State Warriors held an impromptu two-hour meeting with players and coaches Thursday in which they aired their differences.

Historically after such heart-to-heart disclosures, a team either plays with renewed vigor or it can do what the Warriors did, which was miss their first 12 field-goal attempts and fall behind 16-0 before scoring a point last night against the Sonics.

The meeting followed a disappointing 113-99 defeat to the short-handed New Jersey Nets, after which Jason Richardson questioned his teammates' desire.

"Teams are coming at us like shark bait every time, coming at us thinking it's an easy win," the Golden State guard said. "It's getting old. I'm tired of it. Guys got to step up and play hard. That's all I ask. That's all the coaches ask. Come out and play hard. ... You're not scoring? Whatever. Go do something else.

"We know we're not the best team in the NBA, but c'mon. We get blown out every game (not quite true). We got guys going out and getting career highs who have no business getting career highs."

Something about playing the Warriors brings out the best in other teams' role players. </div>

I'm glad JRich is finally calling his teamates out. They seem to have all given up and are playing with no heart. Atleast last year the team played till the last game of the season. This is disgusting.

J-Rich is accepting the leadership role and is playing and acting like a vet and is really what we needed from him. Now if Fisher could be a responsible vet and learn that offense doesn't include the words used in Derek, he could maybe help

Well I'm glad Jrich has desire, the desire enough to win where he would talk like that to the media. His teammates might resent him for that, but Jrich is right. The defense is just crap, but he works his butt off despite the fact he's not the best defender (part of it was he didn't know how). And he's scoring some when the team needs it. Riddle me this... why is it the other team's point guards and forwards start going off on us? A 6'2 or 6'3 point guard that can shoot or drive just takes Fisher to school any day on defense. And then let's not get into how bad of a duo on defense Murphy and Dunleavy are. One at a time please, not both in the same lineup! That's just asking to get scored on and giving up points and allowing 50% fg.

^Yeah, Pietrus should get the nod at SF. He can play D and doesn't hang around the three point line all day. Also he gets fouled a lot in limited minutesd wheras Dunleavy only gets fouled once a game. Pathetic. Start Pietrus!

I just want to see Pietrus get more confidence and we definitely need somebody to create some offense through the zone without Speedy in the lineup. Pietrus used to be so daring and unafraid. He had that kamikaze Steve Nash style of aggression. Now no more... I swear it's like Dun and the entire organization is holding him back. If Dun is so great even off the bench, let's just put him there. I mean so what if he screws up and makes rookie mistakes, I've seen Mike Dunleavy do it too. That's why those two are rookies. But who has the most potential to bring things to the table that we need like defense and the ability to drive the ball and make the team quicker?

I have also noticed that Pietrus has been a lot less aggresive as of late. He seems to fear making any mistakes and his confidence is pretty low. Yeah, his aggresiveness might have caused him to be a little out of control, but it also separated him from the average player and was the reason who were so excited about his future. Bring back the Pietrus that was an in your face pest on defense...we need that spark that he used to bring.
As for Dunleavy, I have not noticed any improvment in his game from last year, and his lack passiveness is really concerning. At this point I don't think it is something you can learn, it is just the type of player you are. I hope I'm wrong though. I wouldn't mind playing with the lineup a bit and using Dunleavy at starting point of off the bench to create match up problems.

It seams that D-Fish is only here for his paycheck, and player at his age does not have to prove that he can play, because he has a lifetime contract with GSW. I hope that Mullin and Monty will get sick of that and go woth Flores. I just feel sad that most likley nobody will step up and suport J-Rich, but it is good that he cares and that ice is finally breaking.
