Our team is looking fairly well this year. We have more shooters, more big guys, more backups for kidd. What other improvements, in your opinion, could boost the Nets into a top tier team?

Hopefully we could get a legit inside prescence... maybe someone who's like Kurt Thomas... works hard, is consistent, gets boards, does all the dirty work... also could hit that 15 footer with consistency.

I dont think New Jersey would take on his contract, though you could use any help down low. Theo Ratliff is a FA this year i believe(correct me if i'm wrong) for the right price you could use his defensive presence. His scoring or lack there of is no big deal since you have enough offensive weapons in Kidd-Carter-Jefferson. He's a bit old and not the best rebounder, but he's still a dominant shot blocker and i think he'll be reasonable priced. Donyell would be a great fit as well....same sort of player has Kurt but better range and should be a more reasonable price.

    Once we have
    J Kidd
    Carter
    Jefferson

all healthy, all we need is a PF and a C and we are set. Championship baby!!

I'd say we get Yao in 2006 and trade a pick and Krystic and a couple players for a Pf and we are set for a championship!

Ratliff signed an extension with Portland I believe he has 3 more years after this one.

are we looking for a power forward or a center? If we're looking for a center, are we looking who can backup krstic, or replace krstic as a starter?

The Nets need a lot of improvements to get back to championship form. THe team is streaky and doesn't play consistently. We need to integrate back that fastbreak game that got us so far in the past. It's non-existent now, and we rely on three or four plays to get us buckets. Hopefully and athletic big whether via draft or free-agency will help. People mention Stromile, but I bet he gets even more somewhere else? What about Kwame Brown? I think it's about time for a scenery change cause he can play. I rather have the Nets miss the playoffs and have a high draft pick this year than to stumble into the playoffs and have to face the Heat 1st round.

Not likely, i know, about Yao. But why do you laugh about them all being healthy. Vince hasnt had a serious injury for 2 years now, this is RJ's first major one and there's no reason to believe he wont return to top form and Kidd is playing great, getting over his injury.

Man it would be crazy, if we could get Stro we drfinately need that athletism in our front court. If you think about whats missing in our fastbreak game it has to be pointed out that our bigs are extremely slow getting up in down the court, you go from having K-Mart who gets up & down the court like a small forward or off guard to Krstic, Collins, & Smith who arent that athletic & cant move that well vertically, so the fastbreak game takes a major hit. I think having Stro as a trailer on the break with Jeff & VC playing the wings would be incredible.

As far as Kwame Brown goes, I would probably pass. He has been a bust pretty much so far. And being stuck with him & Collins under pretty long deals is to risky imo. If Brown didnt improve then the Nets frontcourt would be stuck for several years. If we would have ben able to work out a deal to Brown back in January with the trade exemptions etc. And he had a chance to prove him self here in Jersey for the 2nd half of the year or at least show some potential of the success he could have in the future then I would be all for extending him in the offseason. But it never happen so I wouldnt take the risk during free agency for him. Butr that is just my opinion.

Maybe you guys ought to start a "Good News..." thread!

Kidd needs some more running mates in the fastbreak situations. As nextlevelgame pointed out, that is what got them there in the first place. It was kind of like a mini Showtime. Those are the same Nets who got the Pistons into a game 7 and could have won it! They had a strong nucleus, they had chemistry and experience. I wouldn't say automatic championship for them in 2006. It's not that easy.

It would be risky giving Kwame a contract and him not performing. Right now, finally healthy, he's been putting up large numbers for the Wizards. 16 pts 12 rebs in his last game. 9 pts, 9 rebs, 1stl, 1 blk in just 23 minutes, and 12 rebs in 36 mins against the Rockets. He has the skill and he's been steadily showing that he can play. I want something to happen, maybe this. I wouldn't risk more then the MLE though.

I think Stro'd be our best bet. He could provide the same interior intensity that the Nets had before kmart left. A no nonsense, atheletic superfreak who just wants to dunk on everyone and block every shot. Anyone see that facial he had on yao?
