Post any ideas/scenarios that would help us get a player we want or a certain spot in the draft. Be creative as you want. Just keep it realistic. No Foyle trades where we end up getting decent players in return.

I'd attempt to deal D Fish to the Lakers for the Miami #1-and then, with luck, draft Saleem Stoudamire with that pick. I see point g ability-and the best 3 around, most see a 2 guard who is too small and has athsma. Obviously we don't need him to do more than keep Baron fresh and give us a few 3's. I'd like to get Danny Granger,as a mid-late #1,but I'm not ready to suggest what we'd give to have the pick

I'd rather send DFish to Miami for Damon Jones, but Miami wouldn't do that. All we have our rooks, when we probably need more vets.

Would anyone be willing to Move Murphy and the 1st round pick for an established 4? What would it take to get Carmello? Could we trade Murphy, the 1st rounder to get him? What else would have to be thrown in? I'm starting to think that between using 2 or 3 of Fisher/Murphy/Pietrus/Tskitishvili/Foyle and this year's 1st, we can put together a trade for a legitimate back to the basket power forward. The Emergence of Biedrins and Zarko really have me pumped.

I don't know about that, CH. Murphy is hard to move in the next few years because of his contract and it's not like he's a bad player. It seems doubtful Denver would absorb his contract just to use him as an off the bench player for KMart/Nene unless Kmart were involved in the trade. And that guy is way overpaid despite being primarily a denfensive player. Murphy has been oft injured and very inconsistent so it's hard to see what this guy can do when healthy. Do you know what is up with George Karl? I am convinced he's going to move Carmelo Anthony for somebody more established and who can play within his team kind of game. I wouldn't mind Carmelo Anthony since we already have players who can reign him in. Melo is not a leader, but he's one heck of a player who was key in Syracuse's victory in the NCAA and I doubt Kiki Vandeweghe would move him just because Karl doesn't like his game.

I'm not usually one for these types of threads, but I think Mello is going to be playing the 4 in a couple of years (especially on a team that can run). He'd be the perfect fit here. Especially if we could keep Davis, JRich, Dun and Biedrins here. As much as I love Pietrus, we could always sign a decent vet at the 2 guard to fill that void. Don't get me wrong, I don't want to toy with what we have right now, but a player like Mello as your 3rd option is a wicked thought. We'd be contenders to win the west.

I think Melo will be a pretty awesome player eventually, but he could be just another Jerry Stackhouse one-dimensional scoring type player. I freakin' traded him in my fantasy league, because I couldn't stand his low fg% and turnovers any longer. If he played the 4, he'd have even more trouble guarding his assignment. The only reason Shawn Marion can get away with it is because he's super long, can really jump, and stays aggressive on the defensive end. I would like to see Melo in a Warriors uniform I just doubt Denver would do it after they made the playoffs with him last season. Melo is probably less selfish than we all think so he could be an effective team player with solid scoring solutions all around him like Jrich/Bdiddy/Fisher at the 2 guard. Denver is just not a reliable scoring threat unless Andre Miller and the bench is picking up some of the scoring slack and they have some legit 3 point shooters to beat their way out of the zone. I think Melo would absolutely kick butt if he was in a Warriors uniform with Baron and Jrich, but wow that's the thing you could only imagine that would happen to us twice! I can believe we can get Baron Davis for Claxton/D-Squared but for a once lowly franchise who drafted the guy that helped take them to the playoffs last season? Only way I can see them doing that is if they overpaid him, he's unhappy and the Nuggets want to dump his salary. Until then, they are going to be patient with him no matter how bad he might sulk under Karl. Karl has that reputation for being the big boss so it might even be plausible somebody could get him if the Denver Nuggets can become successful without Melo. And there's already been a few games where he's been benched and the team went on to win without him. Interesting how this could be an actual scenario. But with all that hype about him I wouldn't be suprised if he was traded like Stack even if he is Denver's best scorer.

Is there anyway we can be a more balanced scoring threat? If we had some low post game coming from anywhere but our backcourt, that would be awesome. I know we can run, but I'd be more impressed if we can slow it down and almost score at will because we can open it up and play in sets.

I frankly don't think that much of Carmelo who I think fits the Stackhouse mold,in that he does'nt seem inclined to do the dirty work. Power F? no way,not tough in a crowd, strictly a SF for a team where others carry the load on D.

Salim Stoudamire again nailed a clutch shot for an Arizona win,the guy is as good of a pure shooter as I have seen in several years. If he adapts to point,as Arenas did,he could be a major draft bargain. if not he's still instant offense

How do you guys feel about Pietrus? I know he's from France and I was really looking at Petro who is another French prospect. Any concerns, regrets or anything else about Mike would be very much appreciated! [IMG]

Pietrus is a a stud athlete. He has the god given ability that any of us would kill to have. However, I think he was so used to dominating in France that he missed out on many nuiances of the game. In short, he's very raw. That being said, the kid is picking the game up fairly quickly. Any regrets? Probably the only regret is not being able to give him the ammount of playing time he needs to really mature. If he's not starting next season, he'll be up for 6th man of the year IMO.

Monty has noticed now something about the personnel here, which is that many of these players do well at two or more positions. Enhancing that, several guys who are not starters, are able, sometimes,to play as well, maybe better than the starters. When J Rich or Pietrus slide over to small F it adds speed. Zarko,6-11,can be a real tall SF. Murphy can be a C who's got a good perimeter shot. Pietrus is perhaps more "high risk" than raw,he tends to be aggressive, daring, and with the zip he has,it's a good way to go. He is still learning when to be more careful. He's having to adjust especially on D. His go-for-it approach could shut his guy down but NBA refs invent the rules according to their moods and Pietrus was getting called for assorted fouls. Next he overcompensated and his D slipped.

Very well put. Pietrus will be very valuable trade bate, but hopefully Mullin isn't dumb enough to trade him because Pietrus can do great things some day

The most likely to be traded is Fisher/Dunleavy/Pietrus and the pick. I like Dunleavy and Pietrus but having both of them doesn't fix our weaknesses which is rebounding & interior defense. Having depth is important but we are getting murdered on the boards and in the paint. Even if Zarko adds 5-10 pounds of muscle, he's no PF.

My dream scenario would be this:

If we don't win the lottery and end up with the 6/7th pick, we trade it to denver with Dun/Pietrus + filler for Nene. We sign him to an extension immediately and pay him the money Dunleavy will ask for. If we keep Dun and he is angry, we can deal Dunleavy before the deadline. This way Nene can play the center spot with Murph until Dre is ready. When Dre is ready we can choose between Murph and Nene to play the 4. Nene is so freakin strong, he would make a noticeable difference immediately! Heck we can even keep them all and look to ditch Fisher & Foyle later on when their deals are closer to expiring.

Use the exception to trade for a dead eye shooter. Someone who will know his role, catch the open pass and hit the J. We don't need the guy to be exceptionally good at anything else.

This scenario leads to us dumping Dunleavy rather than Pietrus. I like Dunleavy but like I said we need frontcourt depth badly. Pietrus can be as good of a defender as Artest, Dunleavy is alright at defense. Dunleavy shoots a good % but he's not money with his shot. Why not just keep the better defender because we have enough offense from the perimeter. The most important thing is that there are rumors flying that Dunleavy will command Murphy like money. With the money we have invested in perimeter players, there is no way we can give Dunleavy that kind of money and neglect our frontcourt. If Baron Davis were never traded here, I would not have thought of this scenario but Baron is transforming Pietrus. Pietrus is playing better than he did last year at this time. I think Baron can get Pietrus to fufill his potential.

I wouldn't be opposed to getting Nene, that guy's a beast... but for Pietrus? I'd rather swap picks if we're trading for Nene and giving up Pietrus. To give up our draft pick and Pietrus seems a bit high for Nene, but then again decent big men are worth more because they're harder to find. Who would give us dribble penetration off the bench though? We don't really have anybody that can drive and get fouled or has the willingness to.

Actually that trade would piss me off if it included either one because why couldn't we have just drafted Nene to begin with instead of Dunleavy back in 2002. I know, I know. Don't need to hear it.

    What about this guys....

Send Derek Fisher/dunleavy to the Bobcats for Gerald Wallace sign and trade

Thsi will give us an athletic three whose specialty is defense. also the obvious thing is gettng rid of fish's contract

i know people want pietrus to start at the three but i honestly think hes more of a 2 right now and would be very good as a 6th man coming off the bench

Well which players' values have soared as a result of Baron Davis? If these guys stocks are high we could definitely be trading one of them for a player we'll really need come playoff time. And to be as good as teams like the Spurs, Pistons, or Lakers you got to have a player that commands double teams, draws fouls, plays defense, gets those second chance points and otherwords sets the tone in a game. I don't think Dunleavy really does that, he's more of a utility player right now built for the halfcourt game whereas Zarko could probably do both with the extra length, his high energy and athleticism. Fisher is a role playing set shooter that has veteran and playoff experience. Pietrus is almost looking too good to be Jrich's backup and in a few years will have teams looking to snatch him up (he could end up being the same situation Stromile Swift is in, won't be a backup for very long). We definitely have some good pieces to maneuver with so I hope Mullin can find a way to dump bad contracts without ruining team chemistry and pick up guys that are just close to being pure world beaters as you can get. Because right now is Mullin's window of opportunity to build a great team before the small level of flexibility leaves us unable to move forward at some point.

Since this thread began Pietrus has been on a roll and if he's improving even more dealing him would be out of line. Dunleavy, when you look at the numbers, is not going to look like the savior to any other team. Murphy's 11+ rbd average catches notice, and 6-11 is in demand. A #1 pick, whether 5th,8th or in between,is a big bargaining chip. I see a lot of players I like in this draft. I'm more inclined to hang on to our pick, and deal Dunleavy for another one.

I don't think Derek Fisher well ever be traded for a 1st round pick.

The Lakers have the Miami # 1,near last in the round, and I think they MIGHT see Fish as part of better days. We'd throw in White and a future #2 in nessecery
