After hours of research and debate (the top 5 picks were originally the Michigan State starters), JBB members Voodoo Child and Shapecity have put together Version 1.0 of the official 2005 JBB NBA Mock Draft. We created this Mock Draft a few days before Tournament week, so keep that in the back of your heads before you pick our Mock apart. The draft is based not only on which players have the highest draft stock, but also on team needs. We did not include Chris Paul because we both feel he will return to Wake Forest. This Mock Draft will be updated when needed. We will unveil Round 2 of the draft shortly. Also a special thanks to Design Team members David, RJ 21 and Sasha for collaborating on the banner.

Very nice, I like L.A.'s picks. I honestly see Felton here nex year.

I don't think Gilchrist is going to leave either, I think he might stay one more year to up his stock.

Toronto's pick, in my opinion, is god awful wrong....why draft another PF when we've got Bosh and Bonner, both young, both PF's. Also i cant see Sheldon Williams going 3rd...but i could be wrong.

Interesting but I don't think Felton will get past one of Toronto's picks, they have Philly's as long as it is above the eight spot. I do believe that Rashad Mccants is an unbelievable fit in Toronto and I haven't thought of the possibity of Toronto having an all UNC back court next year if they pick Felton and Mccants.

Everything else looks great except Nate Robinson at number 21, I know his stock is raising through the tournament but he isn't growing through the tournament and the kid is still 5'9". I was thinking more of a late first round (25-30) or an early second round pick.

Honestly looks good, but never on the face of this green earth will Sheldon Williams go Top 5. A lot of scouts and GM's barely have him as a sure fire lottery pick, so Top 3 is crazy! Granger would be a steal (and an awesome fit) in Phoenix at 18, I can see some other guys in here, I think Jack is staying aswell as Gilchrist, but this is a solid Mock #1.

Wait...Mardy Collins is a PG? I thought he was an SG?

Anyway its good seeing a Temple boy gettin some love, especially having him going 14th..but I thought Minnesota still doesn't have a 1st round pick? They trade for a pick or something? Sorry if I seem a bit late with this.

I didn't even notice Sheldon at 3 the first go through, horrible place IMO. Sheldon does not have a jumper outside of 10 feet, am I saying he is a bad pick? Hell no, he is a great rebounder/shot blocker who takes it to the hoop hard, but he isn't top 3 material IMO.

Oops .. typo, Mardy is definitely a SG. Minnesota definitely has a draft pick this year.

I thought 2004 was the final forfeited pick, but I just double checked and you're right, they lose this year's pick as well. We will have to make an adjustment for that.

Yah, there is no way Felton is getting by a Minnesota pick if he is still available by the time.

I don't agree with the Sonics taking a PG in Jack, they may lose Ray at SG but management seems to have a long-term investment in Luke Ridnour. Not to mention we have two other point guards that could start on many teams that may be back. But it's so early we all have no clue who will leave what teams a such.

hahaha why so bad...these guys are going top 10 maybe but top 15 for sure...Raptors arent gonna pikc Aleksandrov they are more interested in a PG....if neither of these 2 are gone before the raps pick..the raps will most certainly pick Jarret Jack...1 because he played 1 year with Chris Bosh and 2 because hes an amazing player. Salim Stoudamire....hes got such great courtvision and is such a great 3 point shooter...hes a great overall player and will go top 10 most likely. As for Sheldon Williams....all i have to say is WATCH HIM PLAY...hes a great rebounder/shot blocker and hes got a good post game...hes got plenty of time to work on a mid range game...but i really hope that Jack or Stoudamire come to T.O.
Damon Stoudamire - Salim Stoudamire Both drafted by Toronto lol what a coincidence.....how abuot Juan Mendez yall really think hes not 1st round product.

i thought JJ was a senior..

I think that looks great. To me, Bogut would be almost a lock as the first pick unless it goes to Charlotte, but even than, he could probably be an upgrade over Primoz Brezec as the starting center. I also really like the Lakers picks. I think Felton would be a great addition to the Lakers. He's a phenomenal point guard and he addds youth to that starting spot. Plus, the pick of Salim Stoudamire seems to be a good one also. A back up point guard and a phenomenal shooter, something the Lakers lack. I think if they were to get both of them, that'd be great draft for them and it'd give them a new starting point guard and some added depth.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, I'll try to give you an idea of why we put some of the players where they are.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Very nice, I like L.A.'s picks. I honestly see Felton here nex year.

As for Gilchrist I think he's anxious to get his pro career started. His injury in the last game is going to put him a step closer to declaring. His stock has dropped, but I think he will make an impact in his workouts and when he goes up against some of the other PGs coming out this year.

Also i cant see Sheldon Williams going 3rd...but i could be wrong.</div> We had the Raptors taking the best available talent with their pick. A couple of reasons for that, the Raptors are still rebuilding, the Raptors will likely lose Donyell Marshall, and Nemanja gives them flexibility to play the 4 and the 5. And of course, having size is never a bad thing in the East.

I'm surprised a little with the knock on Shelden Williams being selected 3rd. If you look at the situation in New Orleans, Byron Scott is putting together a solid team built around depth. PJ Brown only has a few years left in him, and Shelden Williams would be the ideal player to take his spot as the starter. Shelden Williams is coachable, plays hard every night, and is an effective defender. The Hornets are set in the backcourt already, and Scott is not a fan of European players. Scott is old school and he will push to get Shelden Williams as a Hornet. Of course the Hornets could get Williams later on, so it's possible they trade down.

He's been doing well, and a consumate pg and pro.</div> Jarrett Jack deserves to move up in our Draft, but at the time his stock was at an all-time low. He was struggling and making bad decisions in crunch time. Also Jack's game is more suited for college and not the pros. Jack doesn't have the skills to make him a good pro, the main one being he can't shoot off the dribble.

Felton and McCants would be an interesting combo in the Toronto backcourt though. As for Nate Robinson, you have to remember Jerry West is the GM. He's had a history of doing unconvential things with late picks and he's going to love the talent and athleticism of Nate Robinson. The Grizzlies will likely lose Earl Watson, and Jason Williams is constantly injured. With Musselman on the bench, the Grizzlies will be confident he can make Nate an effective player eventhough he lacks size. Musselman resurrected Earl Boykins career when he coached him in Golden State, and Nate Robinson has a lot more going for him than Boykins.

He said the Sonics will take the best available and give themselves more options through trades. Also insurance in case Antonio Daniels bolts.

i thought JJ was a senior..</div>I answered some of the reasons we had Jack going low in our Version 1 of the Mock Draft. Also he's a Junior not a Senior. I don't think the fact he played with Bosh will play any factor in all in the Raptors decision to draft Jack or not. It makes a great story, but these type of hollywood endings never happen. Salim Stoudamire fits into the 'tweener' category. He's an amazing shooter, but he will drop because he's not your traditional SG size and he has yet to prove he can run a team. Juan Mendez definitely helped his stock with his tournament performance. Right now we have him on the cusp of breaking the 1st round.

ok i guess i would have to agree with what you just said and srry i didnt read Version 1...but Jack and Bosh together could have an affect on Toronto and isnt Salim a PG not a SG.

^Stoudamire is a SG. The reason he is ranked so low is because as stated before he is a tweener and scouts can't really find a position for this kid.

    some ideas

no way sheldon is going that high, no way the Knicks will pass on Splitter .... aside from that it was a better mock draft than i have seen almost anywhere else.
