Yea..i love basketball and i really want to play after my senior year. I dont think i have the skill to be recruited, but im still working out every day as im a junior this year and next year will be my senior year. Even if i do get amazingly good, i still play for a 1A high school and will be a senior and i dont think i could get recruited. So for college, how can i play without being recruited? Are there try-outs? And like for Division 1 or Division 2 colleges, what kind of things can you do to get on the team. Do you like fill out forms, go talk to the coach, or what? thx

If you want to get noticed, you need to play AAU this summer.

Plenty of players are walk-ons. Like ronald ross down in Texas Tech. In the early 90s the captain of Michigan was a walk-on

Moody from Kansas and Moss from Kentucky are some of the better current walk-ons in the college game. But it's very rare to see a walk-on playing that much.

Not necissarily. You should know that one of the best 3-point shooters in college history , Cameron Mills, was a walk on that played for Kentucky. That just shows you that if you have a good work ethic and practice hard you can playfor nearly anyone. Coaches love players that do the dirty work and hustle. Just practice every chance you get, work hard and try to get involved in camps and AAU teams. The information that Hunter posted is exellent. Look into finding a team or making your own.

Ali2coolwitu, how to walk-on really depends on what college you plan to attend. Just look on your school's website. I'm sure there will be some information there. Most schools have tryouts though. For example, here is a link on the University of Washington's mens basketball tryouts - Link. If you can not make it as a walk-on but still want to play basketball, most colleges have competitive intramural teams that you could also participate in.

Well, while there's exceptional walk-ons every now and then, it's still very rare as UK said. For every Moody and Ross you have ten Charlie Everett's (North Carolina).
