<div class="quote_poster">Quoting #3 Marbury:</div><div class="quote_post">Tanks are a weapon of war, a tank from another team is an ENEMY!!! KILL DA TANK! [IMG]

I really hate Boozer for what I believe he did. However he is a friggen hard-worker and man he can punish people downlow! I remember seeing that Utah held its own against San Antonio and a couple other elite teams when they were healthy. I don't like Boozer, but I think it would be a huge mistake if you were to trade him. He is a hard-working defender and offensive guy.

Utah could be a top 5 team next year, they always seem to have the hardest working guys. If Sloan gets back to his normal self, their defense could be the 5th best in the league. (San Antonio, Miami, Houston , Detroit as the top 4)</div>

Well if you were Boozer and had the opportunity to play a bigger role and make more money what would you have done?

Remember the NBA is a business, and Boozer's decision to leave was just as much a selfish decision as it was for the Cavs to try and lock him in for less than he's worth. I believe the figure they were offering was $5Million, but Boozer is making twice that in Utah. If someone offered you twice the money, wouldn't you have second thoughts about staying at your current position?

Boozer took the best available situation for him and his family. In the NBA, as a young player, you have to take advantage of these opportunities because there are no guarantees and they don't come around too, often.

If the Cavs really wanted to keep Boozer, they had options open to free up money and match the offer.

[quote name='shapecity'] I'm not going to rule out his wife having influence over his decisions either. /QUOTE]

You seem to be hung a bit on this one. I have a hard time with why. It's certainly not out of the ordinary.

Aside from his parents, whom he consults with almost daily by phone, (and why not), CeCe is probably his closest confidante, as she should be. A marriage is a partnership, a 50/50 deal. The decisions they make for him, have a profound effect on her as well. And as an added bonus, she has had some exposure to the world of Sports Agents and contracts.

But beyond that, when you must make decisions based on millions of dollars, it's smart to draw on all the resources that you can trust, to help choose the proper path.I'll give you a couple of his.

Jim Hamey, a now retired bball coach in Alaska, has had important input from time to time. Coach Krzyzewski from Duke is always close at hand to advise. As a matter of fact, coach K called him before he made the committment to sign with Jazz. But probably the closest to him, a man he contacts on a regular basis, is George Huston, his old Crimson Bears High School coach in Juneau, AK. I asked George once when Boozer was about 15 yrs old, how much money he thought Carlos might be worth when it was all said and done.........His answer.......Oh maybe 80 to 100 million dollars over the life of his carreer. Pretty astute estimate I should think............And he ain't gonna miss it far.

So I guess it's fair to assume his wife has a occasional influence on him.................Rightfully so..........Thats as it should be!!

Now I AM out on this one................Tank!

Just to clarify, the Cavs were offering him the MLE for 1 year, because they did not have the money to re-sign him for that off-season. They planned on giving him big money the following off-season (which is the one coming up) because they would have his Bird-Rights, and they would be able to give him a better deal than any other team.

Larry Miller was on the radio again last night with his latest revelation. He said Carlos is going nowhere!.......He added that he puts Boozer in the same catagory as Kirilenko........they are both untouchable!!

And as for CeCe not feeling accepted in the community......the straight of it is, Miller said she mentioned to him that she felt they were under a microscope. And he advised her that with the contract they had signed Carlos to, he'd be under a microscope his whole career...........thats a far cry from the crap thats floating around.

He reiterated that he and the Boozers are fine.

Thanks for the local update Tank.

Did LHM talk about any of the players the Jazz worked out or give any details on how they will approach the draft?

Miller said the Jazz "will" draft a PG. But with Stern still breathing down his neck for the comments he made about Bogut, he'd be foolish to go into detail or start naming names. Nothing about the players they're working out to the best of my knowledge.

What did Miller say about Bogut? I live in Cali so all I hear is Kings are in the running for Phil Jackson and should they resign Cuttino Mobley.

What about Okur? He was there best and <u>Heathiest </u> player last year. Is he an untouchable?

Here it is straight from the Deseret News.

BE QUIET: Miller also told KSL-TV he recently received a personal phone call from NBA commissioner David Stern, scolding him for making public comments regarding University of Utah consensus national college Player of the Year and prospective No. 1 overall draft choice Andrew Bogut.

Miller questioned Bogut's NBA-readiness while speaking last month on sports-talk radio station KZN-AM 1280. NBA personnel are banned from discussing underclass draft prospects until later this month. Miller said he was not fined for his remarks.

I don't recall any questions specifically about Okur, but Memo was a solid player down the stretch when Boozer and Kirilenko were injured. If I had to make a guess, I'd say he was solidly entrenched as well. We've got nobody in the middle if we don't have him!
