Link <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The University of Memphis men's basketball program reported a possible violation to the NCAA on Thursday. School officials said they learned that Dave Bronczek, president of Memphis-based FedEx and a school booster, telephoned a woman who is a FedEx employee and the mother of a high school player being recruited by the school. Boosters are prohibited by NCAA rules from having any contact with recruits or their parents. Bronczek made an early July phone call to Oseye Gaddy, mother of point guard Abdul Gaddy of Tacoma, Wash., and a FedEx employee in the Seattle area for more than a decade. "All he said was, I heard about your son, how good he is and told her she's doing a great job," Abdul Gaddy told The Commercial Appeal. "It wasn't a long conversation or anything." Athletic director R.C. Johnson said he did not know about the phone call until he was contacted Thursday by Foxsports.com. Johnson said he expects it to be deemed a secondary violation, which would not result in any penalties. Johnson told a booster gathering Thursday night that "we consider this incident an inadvertent mistake. We have contacted both the conference [Conference USA] office and the NCAA with the information." Memphis lost to Kansas in overtime in the NCAA championship game in April</div>
I am absolutely shocked that a program run by a coach as reputable as John Calipari is suspected of breaking NCAA rules. This just cannot be true.
This would not be a problem if Gaddy didn't decommit from Arizona. Then again, no one wants to go to Arizona anymore.
Re: Tigers report possible NCAA violation involving a booster This is BS. The media as usual bringing us down!
Tigers' starting point: Anderson, Evans to help Kemp handle spot http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/oct/12/tiger-basketball-2008-09-preseason-tipoff-point/
Rivals.com Documentary: 08-09 Memphis Tigers http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/basketball/fullcourtpress Rivals is on week 4 of a great documentary into the Memphis basketball program. I have been following this for the past few weeks and it is a good watch, because the cameras follow Cal and the players through practice and other events. Should be interesting to watch this season, but I think it ends in January.
Memphis escapes Tulsa with a win Anyone catch the game? I almost had a heart attack. I'm not happy, but a win is a win and Tulsa is a good home team.
Re: Memphis escapes Tulsa with a win Jerome Jordan was tearing it up the game. I saw him play a little last year and I knew he would be a problem for us.
Tyreke Evans: The Making of a Star http://bleacherreport.com/articles/96526-tyreke-evans-the-making-of-a-star Wrote this about a month ago. This is basically my first article for something other then school. Enjoy.
Re: Memphis @ Tennessee Wayne Chism is a fat classless shit. Should of gotten T'd up for kicking Taggart.
Re: Memphis @ Tennessee GREAT DEFENSE last possession. Tennessee just missed and fouled us, Memphis ball. Let's go Tigers!!!!
Re: Memphis @ Tennessee MEMPHIS TIGERS: KINGS OF THE STATE. Close game and a great win. Good win at a hostile environment versus a rival. Best win of the year so far. If we can get a win at Gonzaga we could win every game the rest of the season. How 'bout Tyreke Evans though. Controlled the tempo and took over in the second half when needed.
C-USA Title Game: Tulsa-Memphis When?Saturday March 14th, 11:30 AM EST Where?CBS Let's go Memphis! Gotta save a bubble team from being taken down by the Golden Hurricanes. Jerome Jordan almost willed Tulsa to an upset over Memphis earlier in the year but Memphis steamrolled Tulsa in their last meeting.
Next years recruiting class could be one of the all time greats for Memphis. Xavier Henry is ranked the #1 player in the country in all sites except Rivals I think, on Rivals he's #3. Cousins is the number 1 PF and #2 player in the country. Nolan Denis is a four star, top 50 player. Also have two four star junior college players. Darnell Dodson is one of their names, but don't remember the other one. John Wall is also a strong possibility if Tyreke Evans leaves for the NBA. Ether way it's a win-win situation. Many are starting to compare it to Michigan's "Fab Five." Thoughts?
