So who are your favorites?
Also, how would you rank (1-5/1-10) the best actors (or actresses) out there? I guess we could do all-time AND of this generation.

“Losers always whine about their best. Winners go home and f*ck the prom queen."
Edward Norton, Christian Bale, Johnny Depp.
My top 3.
"Jason Kidd's contribution wasn’t just on the floor. His DNA is all over this team. What he does can’t be measured – he’s one of the all-time greats." - Mavs coach Rick Carlisle
Gary Oldman
Daniel Day Lewis
Leonardo Dicaprio
Edward Norton
Peter Sarsgaard
thats my favorites list. All time favorite list would take some thinking for me though.

Leo has always been a great actor. The thing is I've never seen him in a role that truly impressed me. He never seems to have an outstanding performance in a movie, but he's always quite solid.
I <3 Gary Oldman.

Leo isn't exactly the greatest actor, but no one picks roles better than him. I don't think any of his films past The Man in the Iron Mask were bad.

All-time favorite actors:
Daniel Day Lewis
Jack Nicholson
Toshiro Mifune
Robert DeNiro
Peter Sellers
Current actors that I really like:
Edward Norton
Sean Penn
Phillip Seymour Hoffman
Forest Whitaker
Jim Carrey - Particularly The Truman Show, Man on the moon, and Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind.
Bale, Depp, Damon, and Dicaprio are all pretty good too.

A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day - Calvin, from Calvin and Hobbes
I know somebody is going to make a KingSpeed joke at one point.

Deniro, Nicholson, and Day-Lewis are set in stone as my favorite actors of all time. As for Sellers, one of my all-time favorite movies is Dr. Strangelove and Sellers gives a great performance as three different characters. And the reason for Mifune is, it was a toss up between him and Richard Burton, but I like Mifune's films more as the only one I really like from Burton is Who's afraid of Virginia Woolf?
That and I've thought about this question before.

Matt Damon, Tom Hanks, Robert DeNiro, come to mind immediately.
Al Pacino, Bale, Leo, Norton, would be in a lower group. Also I don't think hes a great actor but if we're talking favorite people to see in the movies Vince Vaughn always has me rolling.

Brad Pitt has always intrigued me, but he's too inconsistent.

Same. Hes very good in support or co-starring but never really nails it as a lead man. IMO hes at his best when bringing to life some wacky characters: Lt. Aldo Rain, Tyler Durton, whatever his name was in Snatch, and his roles in Twelve Monkeys and True Romance. He was great with Clooney in Ocean's 11 too. Not that hes bad in leading roles with more normal characters but hes just kind of boring or non-descript (his character from Se7en and Benjamin Button come to mind).

Money about Pitt! He's a great co-star, but I don't think he's ever really nailed a starring role that well.
My favorite current actors -- Bale, Depp, Norton, Washington, Russell Crowe
All-time: De Niro, Denzel,
I like Johnny Depp, but lately he's been getting waaaaay too much credit for his work. He's become overrated, imo.
And LOVE Russell Crowe.

Fuck Tom Hanks. I can't stand the guy. The only thing I like him in is SPR.

I think Ethan Hawke is a great actor.
Gattaca, Before Sunrise, Training Day, Hamlet (modern version).
Hey dude, you can bitch about James all you want but your argument is still subjective. Don't present it as fact. You can't, you're not at this level.
I'm actually becoming a big fan of Natalie Portman. I really liked both performances in Brothers and V for Vendetta, and now she's set to become one of the biggest actresses in Hollywood when she plays in Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan and Alfonso Cuaron's Gravity. I've heard the performance in Black Swan has made her the front runner for Best Actress at the Oscars.

Edward Norton, Christian Bale, Denzel, De Niro, Pacino, Nicolas Cage, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey come to my mind.
Props to Trench
Welcome!
