After starting out strong in the month of April, the Timbers have hit rock bottom in the month of May. Is this just a 1st Quarter Funk, or is the offensive going to be stagnant the rest of the season with no consistency?
I think we will continue to be inconsistent while we play our young guys to get them experience. When they gain experience, the consistency will come (for those who are good enough to be around next year that is) We are building a foundation for next year, which can be frustrating, but it has to be done. We are getting a TON of opportunities, but we need to finish. Thats where the experience will help (I hope) is finishing.
I can imagine that having Gavin gone half the time takes on the players confidence in each other on offense. I think our defense is pretty good but does tend to give up one on one goals in some situations.
yeah although I will admit the Goal Montreal scored was pretty much beautiful. I didnt get to see the CP Baltimore game, but I read one score was off a corner. Was the other one a 1 on 1 situation?
yeah for sure, we were 3rd row in 106 so it happened right in front of us. And I couldnt even hate on them.. it was beautiful. So you work at PGE? or TV or something?
oh cool. So you get to see all this good stuff but dont get to partake in the Timber's Army singing and stuff
Yeah, most of the positions that we have we can see parts of the game or the crowd. The only annoying thing that we have to deal with is Timber army members complaining or having bragging rights over seats over other members. These are GA seats but we have had some members want to pick a fight with another group by saying "These are our seats from last week." My basic rule of thumb is, why didn't you come earlier then? Then the newer timber fans who got relocated, are upset now and don't want to go to the next game. Is this the correct way for Timber army members to behave?
Its a lame way for people to behave. They are GA seats... I dont care about how long someone has been coming to games, that doesnt mean they get to reserve those seats. So yeah they should leave earlier if they want them lol. Only a few people have acted like that from what I have seen. Hopefully not more.
The goal Montreal scored was lovely, respec! I'm not worried about the Timbers. I fully expect them to settle on a starting eleven by game 21 or so, and then will start concentrating on the playoffs. They'll be fine.
Yeah the territorial shit concerning seats is just plain dumb. I usually just hang around the edges of the Army these days and watch the game and sing a bit here and there. Some people just take the whole TA experience too far, like alternate reality in need of meds too far. Too many people trying to prove how ultra they are.
That hit the nail on the head for me there. I think for a lot of people the Support they are showing, is becoming more about how much of a supporter they are.. and they forget that we are there to support our boys. A lot of people need to make it less about the TA and more about Our Boys in Green.
If the Timbers make the playoffs, the game(s) will be played at the Hillsboro Stadium. The last 3 weeks of september the team is on the road. PGE park is going to start construction then and that's why they will be at that stadium.
I talked to one of the guest services supervisors at pge park and thats what they have already said about Hillsboro. Hillsboro has bigger grandstands and better bathroom facilities to handle a bigger crowd than U of P. However UP has multiple sides for seats but has natural turf. So i still don't have the final word yet by PGE park management.
