The Timbers cleaned house and brought in a bunch of new guys for what amounts to an extended trial for their 2011 MLS roster. OUT: F Antou Jallow F/M Jason Mclaughlin M Shaun Higgins (retired) M Tommy Poltl (retired) D David Hayes (retired) Hayes is the only player I'll miss D Ivan Becerra D/M Takuro Nishimura (sold to Crystal Palace Baltimore) D Cameron Dunn GK Brian Visser In: F Doug DeMartin (Michigan Bucks) F Bright Dike (Notre Dame) F OJ Obatola (Gombak United, Singapore) M Derek Gaudet (Halifax Dunbrack SC Canada) M James Marcelin (Puerto Rico) D Ian Joy (FC Ingolstadt 04 Germany) D Quavas kirk (Minnesota Thunder) D Steve Purdy (FC Dallas) D Ross Smith (Ebbsfleet United)
Not familiar with any of these names, but I do laugh at Baltimore's name. Most definitely their influence.
CPB are owned by CP. The Baltimore team even went over to London for a match! I'm embarrassed by real Maryland and Real Salt Lake though. Austin Aztex are owned by one of the owners of Stoke City.
The only players worth knowing on that list are Ian Joy of St Pauli fame, and USL superstar David Hayes. Takuro Nishimura was a third string RB on a lower mid-table team in the J-League if that is of interest to ya? Maybe some of those young guys will make a name for themselves.
Nice, I didn't know that. I'm not fan of business tycoons owning multiple sports teams but I guess that's how they roll.
It wasn't aimed at you, my friend. I just realized that Halifax had a friendly with the Timbers. That's pretty cool considering it was a small town I used to live close to.
