Ok so with the sadness of yet another year ending without a parade let's start to look toward the 2020 year. ....

If I were to write a grocery list of wants and needs for the 2020 Yanks, what would it look like?
If we were to have a spring cleaning of the house in February, what garbage is going to the curb?

    Here is my list:

    1. Cole or bust. We need to get back to being the old Yanks and throw as much money at this kid as possible. Top end of the rotation guys do not come along every year or two or three. He is young and is nasty.

    2. The need for a left handed hitter. One of the major flaws in this team is it is too right handed. If we are keeping Stanton then something has to be done with possibly first base. We need a true left handed first basemen who is a a good contact hitter. What would it take to get Anthony Rizzo from the Cubs....would they be willing to trade him for Sanchez? Unfortunately they may be set at catcher but we need to find a way ...three way as my patience for Sanchez is over.

    3. Move DJ to full time 2nd base, torres to short, but in doing that we lose another left handed bat....

    4. Say good bye to Larry Rothchild

    5. Find out from MLB what the hell they are going to do with German, like right now enough is enough this shouldnt take as long as it has been. Something should have been finalized, are they waiting to after the World Series to announce something. This fucked the Yanks in the post season and off season plans cant be held up by what may or may not happen to German in the off season.

    6. See what Betances wants in terms of years and salary. We cant have enough bullpen guys

Gardner: Thank him for his service but his post season futility at the plate is well documented. .196 in 61 playoff games is horrific. Don't get pulled into another year just to see the same ending.

Encarnacion: Age and injuries seemed to have zapped him overnight. His career postseason numbers aren't good either. He's easy to let walk.

Didi: Took over for a legend and did it admirably. With DJ and Torres likely taking over 2B and SS there's little reason to bring him back.

Find a way to trade Stanton, Sanchez and Ottovino. Get rid of Edwin. Resign Didi and keep DJ at first. Voit is the DH. Sign Cole and another starter. That’s my wishlist lol

DJ is not a top line first baseman..he is a top notch 2nd or 3rd...we need a lefty hitting first baseman

I'll merge it up when I get a chance so we can keep it all together.

...he's the best 1Bman we've had since Tex.

...while I do believe the Yanx are too RHed heavy, good luck finding a viable "top line" LHed 1Bman in free agency.

The Yanx need to find a way to sign a dominating starter.

Cole would be perfect. I realize that he's a West Coast guy but he also was a Yanx fan when he was younger and idolized Jeter and Mo. 6 years/ $200 Mil.

Maybe Strasberg if he opts out.

I am not discrediting how versatile DJ is but he is an average first baseman.

I am open to finding a trade for one and my thought is Gary Sanchez going in the opposite direction to acquire one.

...OK, I'll wait on your list of "viable" FA LHed 1Bmen that will put up better numbers on offense and defense than DJ, not to mention that DJ already has a very payroll friendly contract...good luck with that.

And please don't mention Anthony Rizzo, he's a God in Chicago so he's not going anywhere. And I don't see Cincy letting Votto go either.

And you're wrong about his defense, he has a positive defensive WAR and had a .993 fielding %.

DJ is a better all around 2nd baseman when you consider his salary.
I do not think that we will resign Didi which means that Gleybar goes to SS and DJ goes to second base.

Torres' defense and mental lapses in the field scare me as a possibility of him being our SS. Love his bat but in the field he reminds me a bit too much of Cano.

I merged the two threads together since they're both the same topic.

Obviously I don't know what Cashman is going to do with DiDi but I'd much rather have him at SS than Torres...besides, if they let DiDi go, well, there goes a LHed bat.
