I've been objecting to the CJ-for-Aaron Gordon trades that people have been throwing out there for years because I just didn't see what Gordon did. He seemed to me an empty-stats guy who was good at dunking and nothing else. Well, people said he was a good defender, and that seems to be being borne out in Orlando's play this season. With that in mind: The Thunder trade has three goals: clear up a crowded frontcourt, get a backup PG (to replace CJ, who currently plays that role), and GET RID OF KANTER. Ideally we'd get rid of Carmelo instead, but I don't think FO has the balls. Why would Orlando do that? To be honest, they probably wouldn't've considered it before last night. What happened last night? Poor old Markelle Fultz's ACL snapped. They still might not consider it because they're finally winning, and they also have a lot of money tied up on Fournier. But if Jonathan Isaac ever gets healthy, he'd take up Gordon's role. Also they offload Aminu who looks like a mistake for them. (Don't worry, I don't think re-aquiring Aminu is going to do anything for us, it's just to make up salaries.) Why would the Thunder do that? They might want a pick, because Presti is a pick hoarder. But otherwise I'm hoping they're ready to be more patient with Zach than I am.
Not that I'm posting a CJ trade because I said that I wouldn't to prove that I'm not a CJ hater but The Knicks would do this because they get CJ who if he's playing like he is now would be a perfect star guard to run their offense having pick and roll potential with Nurk and the Knicks still having a ton of young talent to go around them. We do this trade because Randle gives us a dynamic scorer in the front court who is mobile on D, Mitchell is a really good young C, Rivers is a vet guard who can back up both back court spots, we get a pick and cap space.
They're terrible, and that's the one position they didn't need someone. It's so funny. What a horribly run organization.
With CJ taking his game up a notch I think the #1 target has to be Draymond. Any combo outside the Dame/CJ/Nurk — DO IT NEIL!
How do you get Draymond Green without giving something meaningful? Also it would be nice to still have a bench.
Here's a somewhat realistic target: Harrison Barnes https://www.spotrac.com/nba/sacramento-kings/harrison-barnes-10815/ He's on a declining deal which is great. Hood + Jones + Simons for Barnes works.
I think he's opting out this season regardless of what happens this season. But yeah, clearly he's the biggest piece in that deal. Barnes, with his ability to hit a shot, is a much better fit as long as Stotts parks his SF in the corner. Another option: Jones (or Hood) and a 2nd for Ariza back. I wouldn't hate that at all.
But the Warriors have to want it too, and I just don't see them trading Draymond while Curry still has legs. Now, if Curry got injured again... But obviously a Draymond-LIKE player should be a target. Of course RoCo is Draymond-like, except that he doesn't boss everyone around on D, which is perhaps what Dame was wanting? This is why I wanted to draft Xavier Tillman...
I'm really not convinced that Hood will ever be the same. He looks like a total waste of a roster spot right now.
I don’t like watching DJJ shoot 3s in the Corner. Hood and DJJ are 2 halves of what could be a really good player. I’d trade either.
At least answer one time why the hell GSW would trade Draymond? Or I guess just keep spamming this all over the forum.
