This group of rookies could go down as the best group of rookies ever for one NBA team.

I think Oden alone will make this one of the best. Add in Rudy who has all star ability and Bayless who could be our starting PG that makes a pretty solid group. Potentially we could start all three with Roy and LMA. Long shot but could be the lineup at some point this year.

Any other team draft 3 impact players before? I'm sure there has but I can't think of any. I can't remember when I counted down the days till a preseason game.

All three of those players would have started Nate's first year here. Our embarrassment of riches is really amazing.

The 89-90 Spurs had a great pair in David Robinson and Sean Elliott, but their third-best rookie was Jeff Lebo. Or maybe Zarko Paspalj. :)

Interestingly, Willie Anderson, Rod Strickland and Vern Maxwell were second-year players on that team. Lots of young talent went through SA that year.

    Including Zarko Paspalj.

These tree added to our group of last year is why I believe we may very well win 50 + games this year. We will probably only win 50% of the first part of the season but will get it going later. Wishful thinking maybe but possible.

Roy, Aldridge, (Udoka if you still considered him a rookie?)

It's hard to find 3 greats in a rookie crop. 2 is a lot easier. Elton Brand and Ron Artest for example.

The best I can think of is Brad Daugherty, Mark Price and Ron Harper.

Harper averaged 23 ppg his rookie season. Daugherty averaged 16 pts, 8 rebounds his rookie year and went on to be a 5 time all star. Price didn't get a ton of time his rookie season, but averaged 7 ppg and went on to be a 4 time all star.

Believe it or not, I am not a cute girl. Sorry to disappoint you.

    Hello darkness, my old friend
    The mustache says "amateur porn."

    Actually, so does the pose/stare.

I guess what I'm wondering is, was this a scene from an amateur porn film?

Bayless has a good chance of being an All-Star too. 3 guys who could become All-Stars is pretty amazing.

Bayless could have a better year than all three (ok maybe not, unless Oden gets hurt). From the sounds of it he's tearing it up in practice. I will be shocked if he's not starting in front of Blake by late December. This would allow us to move some experience to the 2nd unit with Blake running it.

    1st unit -
    Bayless
    Roy
    Webster/Outlaw
    LMA
    Oden

    2nd unit-
    Blake
    Rudy
    Outlaw/Webster
    Frye/Diogu
    Pryz

    Spare minutes
    Sergio
    Diogu
    Livingston ;)

BTW- the NBA is setup for guys like Bayless and Rudy. When they changed the rule about hand checking it completely changed the NBA, Jordan would have been unstoppable with the new rule........

I've said it before and I'll say it again--Bayless could turn into a more physical version of Tony Parker.

I sure hope so! I'm pretty sure I've heard reports that he's been absolutely amazing in practice. Your earlier quote says it all!

I really like all 3 of these guys. I have love Oden since I first heard him talk last year before we drafted him. I think Oden is going to end up the best center in the league in 3-4 years maybe sooner. I keep flipping back and forth between Bayless and Rudy who will be the better player. I can't remember any teams have 3 more promising rookies the same year.

I can see that. However, my own amateur talent evaluation comparison is Baron Davis. Average size for the position, but strong and physical, can jump out of the gym, has first-option mentality and a swagger. Davis' passing skills are more refined and Davis has a mountain man beard, but hopefully Bayless can get there.

I predict Oden will be a grade A player (if he stays healthy), Fernandez a solid player and Bayless as a tweener will have a career similar to Antonio Daniels.
