Game Thread 4/14/17 Game 2 New York Rangers vs Montreal Canadiens

The first goal tonight will be telling. Not that the team who scores first wins the game for sure, but if the Rangers get that first goal the Habs will have to start thinking and getting in their heads a little. If the Habs score it they will settle in some and feel more comfortable I'd think.

You have to believe Montreal will win tonight, because they know their season is almost on the line. If you go down 2-0 in the NHL playoffs the %'s are WAY stacked against you to come back and win 4 of 5 games to win the series. So I am sure the Habs will be extra jacked up tonight. Going to be a tough game for the NYR to win. But if we can score the first goal and put some doubt in Montreal's heads anything is possible.

Its nice to be playing with house money for tonight. Montreal will get tighter and tighter as the game goes on if they can't take the lead. Lets make it 2-0

Great goal by grabs ties it at 1. Henrik playing without a stick for a minute or so a disgrace no player gave him one or iced the puck to stop play

Good offensive first, shit defensive first. First goal I can't believe no one would give their stick to Hank (not that it would help much) or ice the puck. Second goal Rangers have theee guys go down below the goal line to get the puck and Staal gets pushed around like a rag doll (which has always been his M.O. with not being able to use his body) and then Zucc leaves the player wide open. Those are the type of defensive lapses that this team had for a lot of the second half of the season we didn't see in game one. Can't have that crap happening.

 

Holden is the one guy who seems lost out there. Struggled in game 1 and was bad again in the 1st (Staal and Holden on for both goals). Long way to go in this one, but right now you have to believe Klein will be in for Holden in game 3.

First goal no one gives Hank a stick, and then we had a regular season flashback where Petry was all alone in front with a ton of time. And 2nd goal was a terrible play by Staal/Holden.

Next goal will be huge of course. I thought we played fine in the 1st period outside of the two breakdowns.

 

Each team has almost 30 hits each. Jesus, if this is a long series will take a lot out of the winner for future series. At least rangers giving as good as their getting. That little prick gallagher needs to catch a good beating from someone before this series is over.

 

We're getting some chances. Next goal will be huge. Avoid those turnovers.

 

I'm curious also as to how it wasn't goalie interference when Gallagher skated through the crease and broke Hank's stick. If Glass did that he'd get a 5 minute major lol

 

One other comment, you also have to tip your cap to Montreal. They know how huge this game is for them (borderline must win). So they will play their best game tonight. They played a strong 1st period. Good for us that I think for the most part that was a pretty even period.

Hopefully we get the next goal, which is a must, and AV uses Staal/Holden as the 3rd pair.

 

I said after game 1 I would've sat Holden. I stand by that now lol. In all seriousness, I'm also really disappointed that we didn't give Graves a shot because between Holden, Staal and Girardi the kid HAS to be better than one of them lol

 

I was saying it in the beginning of the season that holden stinks. He was good for the first three months then has sucked since.

Ott is a piece of shit and should get a 5 minute major for charging there and a game misconduct. He makes CLEAR head contact and targeted Zuccs head.
