Even better. He realized he sucked and decided to retire. Now maybe they can hire somebody who can run a freakin screen pass efficiently.

Finally! I think we all know that he didn't really "retire" - Mara's comments after the season were pretty clear that changes were going to be made. Hopefully a new OC comes and hires his own coaches. If Coughlin resists - then they should force Coughlin to "retire" as well. Two things really disturb me:

    1) Gilbride was allowed a to commute back and forth to his home in Rhode Island every week during the season. Can't believe Coughlin let him do that when the offense was so pathetic all year. He should have been forced to stick around and actively try and improve it.

    2) Gilbride's kid is the WR coach. I actually did not know that, but now the huge drop-off in the play of receivers, their inability to ever get open, and the multiple lapses of running wrong routes makes sense now.

Coughlin is a loyal guy, who clearly prioritizes loyalty now over winning. Sorry Tom - you may get a lifetime pass from some, but not me.

Agree, he was told to get out or he would be fired. They need to fire his son also. Clearly, he has no clue.
