    Default Random Thoughts Thread (NSFW)

Back by popular demand JBB brings you the new Random Thought Thread. This time however, there will be rules enforced to ensure that nobody continually chats about useless trash that brings the thread down.

This thread is where people can write what is on their mind and have short or lengthy discussions on things that do not deserve a dedicated thread. For instance just putting down a couple of sentences about what's new, etc. Another good example is that school threads (such as the initiation thread or homework help and fighting) can be avoided by having questions or opinions asked here. Also, if you're replying to someone be sure to always quote the member you're replying to in order to avoid confusion for others.

    1. Rap battles are not allowed by any circumstances!

    2. One-liners are not allowed because it often leads to trash talk and other nonsense that just clutters the thread and people can get lost from one page to the next in a matter of minutes.

    3. Threats of any kind will not be tolerated! Joke threats, among other things being one of the major past issues as well. No threats, joke or whatever, are allowed on JBB.

    4. Do not post useless trash in here. Make your topics intelligent. Nobody needs to know about your sick fetishes or fecal matter and other nonsense. Talk to a licensed Psychologist for that.

If any of these rules are broken at any time your post will be deleted and you will receive a friendly warning to explain what you've done wrong. This does not imply to threats!
If you continue to break the rules multiple times you will not only be suspended from the Off-Topic forum, you will be suspended or banned from Sports Two all together!
If you threaten anyone you will either be suspended or banned without question!

These new rules are made so that this thread can be a fun experience instead of an annoying one for most people. So do you understand the rules? Did you actually read this post or did you skim through it as if you suffer from browsing syndrome? Do not test the best in the OT or we will, ehm, do something that is not very nice. It will piss you off if you get easily angered by people you don't know personally and then you will likely send us threatening Emails in which we will laugh at while banning you. So that's it, go post, be merry, gay as meaning bright and showy and everything else that implies.

I'm glad this thread is back. I really missed it. Where else would I post this Simpsons parody of the OC?

Haha! That's hilarious, I've never seen that before. Is it from the new season of the Simpsons or what? The reason I ask is because I haven't really cared for the show since the early seasons many years ago. Anyway I should also add that the OC was total trash. Holy crap I can't believe they cancelled Keen Eddie and not the OC way back. Isn't it gone now though?

Well since we're talking about drugs, I'll mention what happened to one of my "friends". A couple of weeks ago, he was busted near a park, with 4 pounds of X and some other drug. Undercover cops just came swooping in, and he had no where to go. Being that his uncle is a cop, he got off with 2 felonies, 2 days in jail, and a $25,000 bail.

You think he learned? Looked like it, but after about week he started smoking weed again.....near that same park, where he was originally arrested!! To no one's surprise, undercover cops showed up again, and he had to make a run for it. They big search in my neighborhood, and I haven't heard anything since.

Wow, I'm glad this thread is back. Much stricter rules this time around though.

Anyway, I'm doing a summative project on Dubai/U.A.E. That place is as futuristic as it gets.

Speaking of business, how do you (American) guys feel about India and China being projected to be stronger superpowers than the U.S in the next 25-50 years?

Dubai is nice, but I'm not a big fan. The man-made palm island is really creative, but the rest of the city is a blur of uninspired structures with poor lay out. Some of the technology presented there is amazing though. For instance their plans to make a bid for the football World Cup in 2014 using the World's first air conditioned outdoor stadiums.

As for superpowers I figure China is already half way there what with all those amazing cities they have springing up. Shanghai is futuristically stunning, the only big city aside from Chicago I've been in awe over. However, both countries have major flaws in their treatment of people and from what I've learned through business by an Indian friend of mine he has told me neither will be able to cope with problems in the next decade or so due to over population and high possibility of extreme disease breakouts. It will likely be a major blow to finances and credability.

I am currently playing for a 17 and under basketball league. It's pretty fun. We have like 40 people playing in the league. The guy who is running the league picked 6 team captains, meaning 6 best players in the league. He picked me and Pakman (my brother) as team captains. So we did a draft. Pakman had the 2nd overall pick, I had the 3rd. We picked our teams, it was pretty fun. So now we got a chance to play with our teams yesterday for a preseason game. So we were playing this team, we were kind of better than them team wise. In the middle of the game, we got down by about 23 points. Then later in the second half, we slowly started coming back with threes. We had tied the game with about 30 seconds. The other team had missed a shot with 18 seconds, so we got the ball back. I drove in with 8 seconds and took a shot from the free-throw line and missed. So we were supposed to go to overtime. But the gayest part was that the guy had to leave for some reason. So we didn't get to finish the game. The game was tied 59-59.

    I'm not american, but anyway:

I can definetly see China rising, as more and more people are investing in the country, and the money will create an upward spiral for the economy. Even today people are doing what they can to secure their part in this new market. I think their government, if they do what's right for the economy, will help a lot, because in this case, I think a powerful, controling government is needed to steer the economy in the right direction.
My (upper secondary) school will even have a program that will focus on China and economy.

As for India, I don't see the same kind of development as China might have. Their racialism with the caste system, and their poor treatment of women, will be factors that will hinder growth. Their government isn't as powerful as China's, and they will have big problems with their growing population.

Is anyone else a Howard Stern fan? I don't find him funny at all. In fact, I think he's sort of annoying. But I'm addicted to his show for whatever reason. It's probably because of the supporting cast he has. He's got some great comedians working on his staff.

Yeah, who doesn't love Artie? The big baby gorilla. He's leaving the show though and being a real asshole about it. All I hope is that they don't bring Jackie back. I'd like to see either Greg Fitsimmons or Gilbert Gottfried in that role.

Moving back to the point of China becoming the next superpower, I would argue that it already is: the United States are currently in debt by over $250 billion to China alone. Add up all their debt and it reaches over $2 trillion, meaning that it is equivalent to each household in the USA owing around $70 000 each. It is growing rapidly, too, increasing by $20 000 per second, or $1.728 billion per day, meaning each household will owe am extra $15 per day.

So, China is basically financing the US and as such, it is important to them for the US economy to stay strong, else they'll lose another War. So, I would say that China are already a superpower, primarily because they are financing the other superpower.

I kind of got tired last night, but here are my replies:

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Legacy:</div><div class="quote_post">It's physically possible for a 5 year old to speak 5 languages and recite the Holy Koran perfectly?</div>
I think its definitely possible, although it would be an incredibly rare and unique case. There are a lot of things that need to be taken into consideration.

    1) Rote Memory: The Eastern nations (South Asia, Middle East, North Africa, etc.) tend to use the technique of repetition when it comes to teaching or conveying anything. I mean I personally have cousins in India who, at the age of 7 or 8, could recite the timestables up to the 20's or 30's off memory, but had very little understanding of what they were saying. That's why this concept isn't held in high regard in the West. But, nevertheless, this child could very easily have been exposed to the Quran in this way and memorized it. It's hard to believe, but it brings me to my next point...

    2) The Child's Intellect: Don't you find it odd that, with all this talk of miracles, there is absolutely no mention of the fact that this kid might be intellectually gifted? Maybe even at a child prodigy level. It seems that very few people tend to acknowledge that the kid may deserve some credit when there is a religious aspect involved. To be able to memorize such a large piece of literature and pick up those languages would hint at a child who is incredibly talented and gifted.
