"Definitely not a muddled message." "House Dems were elected on a wave of anti-Trump sentiment and are now diligently working to ensure his reelection and send the message to the electorate that impeachment is just meaningless partisan theater," said Adam Serwer, a writer at The Atlantic. Serwer added: "Either the Republic is in danger and impeachment is necessary, or it's not that big a deal and congress can do business as usual." Some argued that Democrats were fulfilling the "Dems in disarray" stereotype and mistakenly looking to appease voters in swing states. "Nothing more perfectly embodies the Democratic party than announcing articles of impeachment and a huge deal with the President on his single biggest priority on the same day," said Chris Hayes, the progressive MSNBC host. Will Stancil, a researcher at the University of Minnesota Law School, called Pelosi's strategy "insane." "This isn't 12-dimensional chess, it's just House Democrats spinning wildly in place, trying to square two incompatible facts: their irresistible desire to look sober and bipartisan by always compromising [and] the absolute objective unacceptability of Trump," he tweeted. "And the result is lunacy." Brian Beutler, the editor-in-chief of the progressive media outlet Crooked Media, called Pelosi's strategy "a stunning betrayal." "If you kill the deal you can say it was a shitty deal, like everything else Trump has done and that you'll do better," he tweeted. "If you pass the deal you tell voters yeah president deals actually did a good deal just like he promised. It's insane."
Democrats are too busy with the impeachment goose chase right now to even think about legislating on anything remotely important. It’s funny, any legitimately impeachable offense committed by Trump (selling arms to Saudi Arabia to commit a genocide in Yemen, maybe?), Democrats can’t touch because they’re guilty of either supporting it or they’re complicit. They HAVE to resort to bullshit like questionable Ukraine phone calls. Imagine, me and you both murder someone. Then I taddle on you for jaywalking on the way out of the crime scene. That is the relationship between Democrats and Republicans.
It is. House has been passing bills like a mother fucker. The Republican Senate is sitting on stacks of bills with their thumbs up their asses. The Democrats are the only ones trying to work bipartisan. Take your hypocrisy elsewhere
Very Good Chris! Now when they (the dems) have something I want, I would highly recommend the effort. The shit they have brought lately is appalling. Excepting passing USMCA of course.
Oh, good point. I guess since I had a burger for lunch that very same day, my burger is also related to impeachment. Also, the impeachment announcement wasn't on the floor. Dunno about the NAFTA one. barfo
Right! Seems like some sort of barf cute. I assume you know USMCA is a replacement of NAFTA. https://www.businessinsider.com/pro...i-for-diluting-impeachment-with-usmca-2019-12
The House sends legislation to the Senate but the Senate is too busy confirming kids to the federal courts to look at any of it.
Like renewing the unconstitutional patriot act? They made sure to get that one done. Isn’t it great when they “work across the aisle”?
Gotta love the notion/narrative from some Trump followers that the GOP has consistently taken the high road on legislation and that the Dems are consistently blocking legislation.
You lost one argument, so you are trying to make another to divert. I don't agree with the patriot act. A bill originally put in place by republicans. I am sure republicans voted for it too. They are just trying to pretend they have one more bad thing on the Dems. The bill extended it 3 months, not indefinitely. I am sure the Dems will work on fixing it in the next session. They are busy impeaching Trump. The original argument you guys brought up was the dems aren't doing anything. They are and have been. The senate is sitting on 400 bills passed by the house. The republicans are the ones not doing shit except whining. They have their heads up Trumps ass like the barnacles on a ships hull. McConnell won't even allow any bills to be heard in the senate unless Trump says so.
