I hope this is the case... I think it is what is best for all people involved except for possibly MLB who wants to nail his ass to make an example out of him... http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/harper-needled-direction-a-rod-opt-exit-strategy-article-1.1405404
that may be... I just want the drama to be over... and whether he plays or not won't really affect the team too much as they are still putting out a marginal team on the best of days...
this is true... but it made sense... I'm not saying any of it will happen, but I think it makes sense, and, to be honest, is a good idea...
As for his involvement with biogenesis his punishment if handed down should be no better or worse than the others involved. I hope that the Yankees can escape A-rods contract and that he never wears pinstripes again. Getting tired of hearing about this man, the Yankees need to get back to fielding a good team instead of the Prodigal Sons possible return. On my all time all star Yankee Team Nettles always has been my third base guy.
The problem I have is no evidence that I see, and every team probably has users on their roster, and helping the teams win games now, so why is Arod being pointed to?
The most interesting thing in the article is the (totally speculated) idea of a lifetime ban. The Yankees are good for baseball. MLB, the players administration and everyone else knows what the evil empire has and can continue to do for the sport. Somehow justify a lifetime ban, perhaps by providing evidence of separate instances of abuse, would send a strong msg to players, fans and all,... It would also free up yankee salary, allowing them to spend more money, which is good for the yanks and good for baseball. Let's see how the hammer drops
MLB hasn't released any evidence yet, but that doesn't mean that there isn't any... A-Rod has been linked to Biogenesis in multiple ways... and he held court with MLB and then disappeared for a few hours... he obviously was shaken up... as far as why he is singled out... I would say a large part of that has to do with the enormous size of his contract coupled with the fact he was chasing the record books and has been a superstar... I am sure they are going to come down hard on Braun as well (another name linked to the story)...
Just the thought of this clown collecting over 100M dollars for doing nothing irks the hell out of me but.......if it gets him out the headlines everyday, go for it.
Don't know whats taking baseball so long to pull this trigger. Sounds like they have plenty of evidence and A-rod will get suspended for a year or so which should effectively act the same as a lifetime ban as those hips and the rest of his broken down PED ridden body are never coming back
The Yankees have a payroll that's almost 3x the median team salary (Orioles at ~$91M), and George isn't around to fix it. How a 38-year-old player, no matter how great he was, could get a contract that's guaranteeing him $114M at ages 38 through 43 is on the team, not him. I mean Cal Ripken Jr. had to retire at 40 because the human body stops being able to stay in top condition with age. The $114M is bad for Baseball. Looks to me like Baseball is looking to bail out the Yankees.
Denny, I don't think baseball looking to bail out yankees. I think they want to make an example of career cheaters like a-rod and braun and the sooner the better
Denny that's why these brutal long term deals make no sense. The Angels are looking at the same situation with Pujols.
Which is why mess if cano wants more than 6 years he needs to be traded or just take the draft picks. Can you imagine a non hustling cano after age 36..... ouch
I agree. If any team should learn about long term contracts its the Yankees. No more then 6 years. Unfortunately you know some team will offer him more.
if teams offer him more, take the draft pick and walk away... we CANNOT straddle this team with even more bad contracts... we have more than enough already
