A physical GIANT, accused by his girlfriend of violent behavior, refuses to cooperate with officers who came to her rescue, instead presenting a physical and immediate threat to all there, despite dozens of warnings for him to comply. Nothing at all to see here except a spoiled millionaire brat, a woman-beater playing his race card.
Seriously though, why would anyone want to be a cop? Everyone hates you. Even if you're actually a good person, people call you a bastard and shit on you. I wouldn't want that job.
Yeah, but you can only protect a bully so long before you get lumped in as an asshole. The system needs to change. Police in other countries are far more professional than the police we have. The police we have are either corrupt, or they cover for the corrupt police. Which makes them part of a corrupt system. It needs to be fixed. The US can no longer get away with our current system, which basically uses civilians as livestock. We need a system which actually helps people turn their lives around. The right kind of people will want to be a part of a system like that.
But it isn’t one system. It’s thousands of systems. That’s why it won’t change. Not wholesale. You’re talking literally thousands of state, city and county police departments. Oregon probably has a few hundred different departments. Portland metro has how many 15-20? You’re talking about a change that has to happen in every single department. I looked it up. Almost 18k police agencies in the US. Holy shit.
Yeah. That should probably change as well. There needs to be a federal, nation wide standard which all police officers are held to. And a police officer who violates that standard should be barred from any official position of state sanctioned power.
@dviss1 lets talk serious for a moment. we know how our phones and computers have algorithms to show us what they think we want to see. This is preventing us from seeing all sides or both sides more often than not because our searches are omitting things. for example. I know i watched a video last year of some cops who pulled over and played with some kids. Good cops. Played hoops with the kids. But when i search for “ cops pull over aNd play with kids” it doesn't show up for a couple pages. I get the opposite. Bad cop stories. Do you think this something happening to you? Because the corps think you want to see and read about bad cops, thats all the access they give you? Is to stories of bad cops? I found the video. I clicked on it. I watch it and them a couple other similar videos. i did the search again aNd wHat? Second from the top is a video of a cop pulling over and playing with a couple toddlers and their pedal car. With all the directional/missinformation, do you think its possible there are good cops and that you are being denied the information due to the algorithms google and the like have created? There is no doubt we need wholesale reform in recruitment, training and psychoanalysis of recruits, but not all cops are bad. I have personal first hand experiences telling me otherwise. Rare? Sure. But its not a 100% thing. And before anyone says, if they were good, they would leave the force, put yourself in thier shoes. If you truly wanted to do others good, would those morals outweigh the pressure to leave because the larger sect may be corrupt? Sorry of it was me id remain a cop, not only to fight the internal issues of the police force but also to maintain my deeds of wanting to help others. shits waaayyy too complicated to just say all cops are bad and when i hear that im going to push back, because i know first hand its not true. For me, the real fight should be against large corp and the entities controlling our access to information. We will never know who is truly good or bad until se make sure the news and information se receive is accurate, complete and all encompassing. Currently we have none of this in our individual information flow and search for answers to our questions. you hate cops so your feed is just gonna give you bad cop stories. Doesn't mean there aren't good cop stories as well. I think you may be being denied access to such stories.
as part of redemption for their services, their schooling should be free if they so choose to go into that field after the military. But are trained military really the best recruits for domestic peacing? my thought is we give the military the choice of trade they would like to go into and we pay for their schooling in that trade and help locate them solid employment. Leave the domestic policing left for those better trained for the issues that arise.
Or teacher or nurses. It's going to be a real fun country to living in, in about 5 years. I also can't wait for all the unwanted Texas babies to grow up and start "contributing" to society.
