I would have been satisfied with Oladipo/Thompson/future firsts. I would've been satisfied with Wiggins + whatever on earth came with him. Now, would "the majority of S2 Blazers fans" been satisfied? Perhaps not. But it's incorrect to say "nobody" would be satisfied.
"Nobody" would have been at the Moda Center with pitchforks and torches. Whether you showed up or not
FUCKING TRAITOROUS, BACKSTABBING, LYING SCUMBAG. HE WILL BE THE MOST HATED AND REVILED BLAZER EVER. And give us back those fake awards and plaques that the Blazers were handing you last season!
That's fine. We each have our own opinion. As a fan, you have the right to hate on him all you want. Bottom line is that the NBA is a business and he did nothing wrong. He played out his contract and left for a better team. From an NBA fans perspective, I see nothing wrong with it.
I'm there to SpanKing. Let's get behind Dame and the new guys. He could've gone down as the GOAT Blazer but he made a decision right for him. He earned every penny he was paid here including playing through an injury at the end of the season. But now the reality is he's just another former Blazer, really good but will not go down in history as anything special either here or in SA (coat tail rider). And my spouse wants me to add that Wesley is the real loss. And also, Go Blazers!!! RIP CITY!!!!!!!!
On a good note, the draft class next year is suppose to be pretty good. This could be a blessing in disguise, because if LMA stayed it likely would have been a first round playoff exit again. At least now Portland could have a chance at a top 5 pick and landing the next big NBA superstar.
And that's the difference between a "NBA fan" and a Blazer fan. Please take no offense and I understand where you're coming from, but that's part of what makes Blazer fans the best in the NBA. We get invested in our players, we combine civic pride with our franchise, and we reward loyalty. Which is why Wes will get a standing O when he comes back and LMA will not. That's where a "Mar-cus Cam-by" cheer comes from. That's where people are screaming "DEEEEE-fense" at FanFests. That's why 10k people show up at a draft pick's introduction. And how they know that Federico Kammerichs has an "s" on the end of it. We're different here. We're better here. And the players that recognize that are loved for eternity.
Man what sucks the most is that the fans have gotten the cold shoulder from all of the players. Except out number one Harry Potter mother fucker Damian Lillard that is.
Good post. I can't argue with you there. I've been to over 15 NBA arena's and without a doubt the two best fanbases and arena's I've been to were yours (Portland) and Seattle (RIP Supersonics).
Has any max veteran signed an extension? I can't think of a single one. Seems like teams are forced to let stars hit unrestricted free agency and pray they stay. CP3 stayed. Dwight left, Bosh stayed, LeBron left, Gasol is staying, DeAndre left, Millsap stayed, LaMarcus left, Love stayed. None of these players will sign extensions because they earn $60+ million waiting a year to be a free agent. If the team knows they leave you trade them. If you think they stay but not certain what do you do? We'll be in the same place in 2020 unless the next lockout changes something.
