Unrestricted free agent center Alexis Ajinca agreed to a four-year, $20 million deal to rejoin the New Orleans Pelicans on Wednesday, according to league sources.

Ajinca, a 7-foot-2, 248-pound backup center, confirmed the news on social media by tweeting he is returning to the Pelicans. The Pelicans are still making a push to re-sign starting center Omer Asik, sources say.

Ajinca can sign his new deal July 9, when the NBA's moratorium is lifted. Ajinca emerged last season in his second season with the Pelicans after averaging a career-high 6.5 points. Last summer, Ajinca worked to improve his offensive game by having more go-to shots such as a jump hook and close-range jumper.
