Looking ahead to West All Star guard selections, it looks like Chris Paul will get in since he's playing great and the Rockets deserve more than 1 All Star. Curry and Harden will probably start. Probably Klay too. If there's only 1 more guard spot and we're top 4 seed and OKC is 8 seed or worse, any chance Lillard makes it and Westbrook doesn't? Yes, Westbrook was MVP last year but he's playing much worse this year (38/31/70) and with better teammates. As HCP would say, Melo and PG13 demand double teams. So why is Westbrook shooting worse? Something to think about. I could see there being 6 guards though in which case, they both make it. I don't think Butler, Holiday, or CJ have much of a chance unless their teams somehow go on run and crack top 3.
They need to add a 13th spot and do the voting off of "Wing" and "Post" players. Do 7 Wing Players and 4 Post players, and two of either. (Ex. Aminu, even though he plays mostly the "4" would be a wing player. LaMarcus Aldridge would be a post.) How the all-star game should go according to those rules: West Starters: W-Curry W-Harden W-Durant P-Towns P-Cousins Bench: W-Paul W-Thompson W-Lillard W-Westbrook P-Davis P-Aldridge P-Jokic East: W-Irving W-LeBron W-Antetokounmpo P-Porzingas P-Embiid Bench: W-Oladipo W-Derozen W-Beal W-Simmons W-Wall P-Drummond P-Horford
It sucks that they're not doing each conference on the same team because a lineup of Simmons/Lebron/Giannis/Porzingas/Embiid would be fun as hell.
Bones- will Cousins really make it over Anthony Davis, the superior player? They can't both make it though, can they? And you left off Kawhi Leonard. I think he'll make it if he plays well over the next month. Durant once made it even though he had hardly played at all. What about Draymond Green too? There might be a push for Capela too. Totally agree that Melo and PG won't make it.
But no Cousins hasn't been. Davis is 4th in the NBA in PER (28.06). Cousins is 20th in the NBA in PER (23.29). And Davis has only missed 5 games.
Well.... it does reflect that Cousins takes too many threes and is a center that only shoots 47% from the field while Anthony Davis shoots 57% from the field. Cousins also turns the ball over more than 5 times per game. Who would you rather have on the Blazers? Anthony Davis, right? I bet all 30 GMs would prefer him too. When was the last time someone was 4th in PER and didn't make the All Star team? I personally think the Pelicans are good despite Cousins. Not because of him.
And what IS everything to you? Raw points and rebounds? 1 more point and 2 rebounds makes Cousins better despite the above?
