Someone found some clips of the 7'3 Sabonis kid. He's very athletic and seems to have good hands. He couldn't hold up in the NBA right now but if he bulks up imagine him and Andy Beans in the same Frontline. http://www.hot.ee/endym/martynas.avi

That kid needs to eat his wheaties though.

This guy has been hyped up since 2 years ago. He could be the next Yao Ming basically. High expectations for a guy that size. Seems too long the wait if he takes 4 years or more to develop.
At this point, I will take him if we can. At this point, we are looking at 6th to 8th, so he probably will be long gone by then though. Just based on the clip, his athlatism doesn't look bad either and won't be mistaken with Bradley. Sure, he may be as raw as sushi, but it didn't take that long for Biedrins to impact the game. Also, with 'great' Russian/former soviet community in our team, he will fit right in, not to mention Mullin's above 6'10" euro collection ...
It doesn't work. About the Yao Ming thing...Yao was a proven player and dominated. The thing that's different is that Martynas isn't proven yet, he just has potential.
As I noted elsewhere Martynas A is currently a backup to Tanoka Beard,a former US college player,6-9,who never got an NBA shot. Martynas is averaging about 5pt,4 boards. If we were looking at a project with no credentials as a round 2-fine,but why use a high #1 on that guy,we could likely sign Shika cheap and have equal odds he turns into a keeper. There are at least 10 US college players who could be a plus for the W's and a few imports who are not so raw. A rookie contract holds a guy 3-4 years and if the pick is high it's pretty significant cap $,so what if the guy only starts being adequate the last year? Not good.
