<div class="quote_poster">Quoting BAKAJ:</div><div class="quote_post">Can u say MELO the rookie of the year. Melo will have a nasty 1st year!!</div> 1 game doesn't equal an entire season.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Vintage:</div><div class="quote_post">1 game doesn't equal an entire season.</div> Ditto. Lets also remember that alot of teams are not playing their star players alot either. They are still finding out who will make the team and who will not so it is not like Melo is playing against top-notch competition. If you read this thread: http://www.justbball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6934 you will see that I think Melo needs to hit around 18 a night for this team to win. Almost anyone can score 19 during the preseason, I want to see what he can do during the regular season on a consitant basis against the best players. BAKAJ, I think Carmelo has alot of talent and can be the rookie of the year if the cards fall in his favor, however I think it is a bit premature to say he will win the rookie of the year based on scoring 19 points in one preseason game.
the suns played their starters more than the nuggets and melo was matched up against marion alot that game.
Dex is completely right. All the stars are sitting (Ex: tmac) but 19 points in his first game is solid, and he has the talent to be a great player in the league. I doubt he can average 19 points per game and its just his 1st game. Wait till he plays the elite players.
Jumping the gun so fast around here, one day Wade is the ROY they the nexy day Melo is..its preseason people, be a little more patient.
It is only pre-season....doesn't mean much..but the thing that stands out to me...Nuggets scored 113 points....for a team that could not score to save their lives last season...It is impressive...they are going to be fun to watch this season..
